SRINAGAR,JUNE 21:–Provincial Vice President Kashmir Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Mohammad Altaf Dar Statement issued to press here said Central Government of India, UT J&K has been used as a test bed for implementing anti-people schemes and this is unacceptable to the people to introduce pre paid smart meters to bill electricity usage, especially given the existing unpopularity over the power privatisation proposal. Pointing to the series of protests against the central governments privatisation plan for the power sector, Provincial Vice President Kashmir Mohammad Altaf Dar said now a proposal is mooted to introduce pre-paid digital meters to consumers in U.T. Mohammad Altaf Dar warned that such a move (where the costs would also be recovered from consumers as reported) would be deeply unpopular among the people. Moreover,the first to be hit if the plan is implemented would be common man. The U T Jammu & Kashmir unit of Democratic Progressive Azad Party( DPAP) would seek it’s leaderships nod to launch a stir if the proposal is not withdrawn.
