Lightning claims two lives in Rajouri district, one injured.

RAJOURI, APRIL 13:- Inclement weather followed by a hail storm and heavy rains claimed the lives of two persons while another was injured at a Dhok (pasture) in the Kotranka sub-division of Rajouri district in the late evening hours on Thursday.
According to locals, in the first incident the deceased and injured both residents of village Panjnara, sustained critical injuries when the lightning struck in the Patil forest area.
According to unconfirmed reports (as informed by the collages of the injured) several goats and sheep were also killed due to lightning.
“Zafar Iqbal (28) s/o Mohammad Bashir was brought dead to Community Health Center(CHC) at Kotranka while the injured namely Showkat Ali (22) s/o Wali Mohammad is stable and after preliminary treatment referred to AH GMC Rajouri,” said BMO, Dr. Iqbal Malik.
In the second incident of lightning, one Faiz Ahmed son of Abdul Ghani resident of Madhar Jaglanno in Kotranka sub-division also received critical burn injuries and died on the spot.
Faiz Mohammad was also present in the pasture in the Upper Jaglanoo area when the lightning struck.
It is pertinent o mention here that the Gujjars and Bakerwals nomadic tribes of the Rajouri district begin their bi-annual seasonal migration along with their livestock towards the upper reaches of Pir Panjal region/Kashmir in the first week of April every year.
