DC Rajouri hands over Rs 11.73 Lakh Compensation to deceased Construction Worker’s Family Releases Rs 6.90 lakh as Education Assistance to beneficiaries

RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 13:–The Labour Department Rajouri today provided death compensation of Rs 11.73 lakh to the dependents of a deceased worker, Khadam Hussain, who was working with the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) when he passed away. The Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal, handed over the cheque to Bajarat Begum, the widow of Khadam Hussain.
The compensation was provided under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Scheme, which aims to provide financial assistance to workers in the construction sector and their dependents in the event of an accident or death while at work.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized the importance of providing adequate support to workers and their dependents in the construction sector. He urged all construction workers to register under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Scheme to avail of other benefits of the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to ensure the welfare of workers in the construction sector, including the provision of health and safety measures at worksites and the establishment of a database of registered workers to ensure that they receive timely and adequate support.
The Assistant Labour Commissioner assured the Deputy Commissioner that the Labour Department will continue to work toward the welfare of workers in the construction sector and will strive to provide timely and effective support to those in need.
In addition, the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri also released an amount of Rs 6.90 lakh in favor of the wards of registered construction workers as Education Assistance under the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).
While interacting with the beneficiaries, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the government is running several schemes for the welfare of Building and other Construction workers with the objective of regulating the employment and conditions of service and providing safety, health, and welfare measures for registered workers.
