DC Rajouri Vikas Kundal chairs NCORD meeting to combat drug menace.

RAJOURI, JANUARY 31:–Keeping in view the growing drug menace in Rajouri district, Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the district-level committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the measures to tackle the situation.
The meeting was attended by SSP, Mohd Aslam; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Behnal; ADC Nowshera, Kartar Singh, PO ICDS, Shoket Mali, DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhat and other Committee members.
Vikas Kundal reviewed the current situation and proposed several interventions to reduce the number of drug abusers.
“Drug abuse and addiction is a serious issue to be addressed with determination and resolve. We must take all necessary steps to ensure our citizens, both young and old, are provided with clean and healthy environments, free from drugs and their hazardous effects,” said DC Rajouri.
Besides discussing the importance of raising awareness about curbing the availability of drugs, various government and private initiatives for drug de-addiction and rehabilitation were also discussed.
The DC, Vikas Kundal emphasized the need to identify drug users and peddlers in a mission-oriented manner and asked for special inspections to be conducted by joint teams of Health, Police, and Drug Control to check the availability of contraband drugs in medical stores.
The Chief Medical Officer was directed to issue a separate prescription book to doctors who prescribe contraband drugs to patients and to cross-check the prescriptions with drug stores.
The DC also asked the Principals and Heads of institutions to form an Anti-Drug squad to monitor student activities in Colleges and schools.
The DC reiterated the commitment of the district administration to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety and prosperity of citizens, particularly young citizens. He praised the work of police and other departments who are at the forefront of this fight.
“The Police department is doing its utmost to combat the drug menace and all the stakeholders should come forward to help the police in its anti-drug mission,” said SSP.
