20 Students are selected for National Level Kala Utsav-2022

JAMMU DECEMBER 16:–Amid blistering performances, *the three day UT level Kala Utsav 2022 concluded today* in the Auditorium of Teacher Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, where *Alok Kumar Principal Secretary School Education was the Chief Guest*. The function was attended by students and teachers of different areas of the J&K.
Addressing a glittering award ceremony function of UT level Kala-Utsav- 2022, organised by Directorate of Samagra Shiksha J&K, *Alok Kumar, expressed the need of promoting art in education at all levels. “We need to recognise the importance of aesthetics and artistic experiences for our students which play a major role in creating awareness of the rich cultural heritage and the vibrant diversity of our UT and the country” he said.* While emphasising the need of organising such programmes on regular basis at school level, Kumar shared that the aim of Education is not only to preserve and transmit our diverse cultural integrities to coming generation but its transformation is far more significant. He maintained that, Ministry of Education, Government of India, has been implementing various schemes for providing better platforms to children for showcasing their talent in different fields and stressed the need of bringing awareness among masses especially the parents to avail maximum benefit out of these initiatives, so that no child remains un-educated and unattended.
He expressed his gratitude to all the participating students for displaying their scintillating performances. *He reiterated that Kala Utsav aims to promote art by nurturing and showcasing artistic talent of the students, which is envisaged in the NEP and now we are moving from co-curricular activities to curriculum in form or art also in NEP*. Such programmes provide platform for our budding youth to judge their aptitude in comparison with the students of other parts of country” he added.
While highlighting the significance of art in the present era, *Kumar stressed on launching a comprehensive talent hunt so that the talent of the nation doesn’t go unattended*. He also praised the efforts of Teachers for their tireless work and Samagra Shiksha team, for making Kala Utsav-2022 a grand success.
*Project Director Samagra Shiksha Deep Raj, in his address*, said that, efforts are being made to encourage students to participate in different Co-Curricular activities in addition to their regular education so that they may popularize the names of their parents, areas and regions and may become a source of inspiration for others. While talking about the programme, *Mr. Deep Raj said that more than 26350 students* from various schools across the UT participated in this year’s Kala-Utsav competitions and out of which 40 Students were selected at UT level and among them, *20 have been selected for National level, today*. “ The access of each and every student to quality education is our priority and Samagra Shiksha is committed to mobilise all its resources to attain this cherished goal under the dynamic leadership of our Principal Secretary” Deep Raj said. He assured that Samagra Shiksha will continue to facilitate such programmes in future.
*Dr. Ravi Shanker, Director School Education, extended his gratitude to all the students who participated in this year’s Kala-Utsav at different levels. He also thanked the teachers, CEOs, Cultural wings at District and Divisional level for their relentless efforts* in making this year’s event a grand success. He also stressed the need to up-bring the potential of students in the field of art and culture at institutional level.
*Romalo Group of Ramnagar also presented the mesmerizing performance*, which also involved Audience, in the Dogra Culture. At the end of the programme, awards were distributed among participants and winning students (20 Nos) in art forms viz Vocal Music- Classical, Instrumental Music- Classical, Vocal Music- Traditional Folk, Instrumental Music- Traditional Folk, Dance-Classical, Dance-Folk, Visual Art-2D, Visual Art-3D, besides the Indigenous Toy making and games, besides awards & citations to the Jury members, Senior officers for their active role.
Among others who remained present during the event included *Manisha Sareen, Secretary JK BOSE, J. K. Padha- Coordinator, Ajeet Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Prem Nath, Ashwani Sharma, CEO Jammu Mr. Rathore, Virender manhas, DEPO, Mr. Ashok Dy. CEO* and other officials of School Education Department. *Bilal Rashid, Deputy Director Planning*, presented vote of thanks at the end of the programme.
