KUPWARA DECEMBER 03:–International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a day promoted by United Nations since 1992. It aims to promote an understanding about disability issues and garner support for dignity, rights and well being of persons with disabilities.

In order to increase awareness amongst locals and youth about the People with Disabilities and also the benefits of tree plantation a Tree Plantation drive was conducted at Jugtial COB where in Eight children with disabilities and 50 boys and girls of Govt School Payarpora participated. 120 coniferous plants and 50 fruit varieties were planted within the premises of the COB .

The children with disabilities planted trees to give across a message of awareness and responsibility amidst climate change.

Mr GR Geelani, block officer, social forestry department encouraged the students to plant more trees and also protect the existing forests.

The event concluded with distribution of winter essential items for the Children with disabilities and refreshments for all attendees.
