434 villages of UT of J&K covered under PMAAGY; Renuka Singh, MoS Tribal Affairs. The Minister visits border district Rajouri for public outreach.

RAJOURI, OCTOBER 19:– “Central Government has launched multiple initiatives for the welfare of tribal community which is evident from the fact that 434 villages of the Union Territory of J&K have been covered under Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojna (PMAAGY)” said Renuka Singh, MoS for Tribal Affairs.
Tribal Affairs Minister of State (MoS) today for Tribal Affairs visited Rajouri district under a ‘special public outreach initiative’ to UT of J&K.
The Government has modified the earlier scheme of ‘Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Scheme (SCA to TSS) with the nomenclature ‘Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojna (PMAAGY)’, for implementation during 2021-22 to 2025-26, which aims at mitigating gaps and providing basic infrastructure in villages with a significant tribal population in convergence with funds available under different schemes in Central Scheduled Tribe Component.
It is envisaged to cover 36,428 villages having at least 50% ST population and 500 STs across States &UTs with notified STs during the period.
The Minister highlighted the significance of the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission & said; “Providing tap water connections to all the households of the country is the priority of the government & persistent efforts are being made in this connection”.
“Inclusive, holistic and substantial development of UT of J&K is the major goal of the Union Government & much emphasis is being laid on every sector to take the UT to newer heights and new levels of prosperity” the Minister added.
Reiterating the Centre’s commitment she said; “Numerous initiatives are being taken to bring transformation in every sector to help the UT march towards a golden future. The government
is working with a vision for a prosperous tribal community and multiple key initiatives have been launched for the tribal population’s welfare”.
“After the abrogation of article 370 and 35 A, the UT of J&K moving towards a new era of development & also moving forward on the path of integrated, equitable development with the establishment of the 3-tier system of Panchayat Raj,” said Renuka Singh.
She also highlighted scores of public welfare measures/programs of the Union Government, including JJM, PMAY-G, PM Ujjwalla Yojana, PM Kisan, Ayushman Bharat etc.

The Minister also inaugurated two Water Supply schemes at Nowshera town and Pukharni built at an estimated cost of Rs 36.14 lacs and 40.49 lacs respectively.
