RAJOURI, OCTOBER 13:— In a tragic and shocking incident that occurred in the Rajouri district, a young father (about 23-year-old) killed his one-month-old son who, according to him, had become an obstacle to his second marriage.
The police are investigating this gruesome incident from all angles.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohd Aslam has confirmed the incident and said: “The accused was planning to escape to Jammu side when he was arrested today from Muradpur village situated on Jammu-Poonch highway”.
The tragic incident took place in Argi village at about 10 pm on Wednesday and the accused has been identified as Mohd Suleiman son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Sagote, (Argi) under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station.
Sources said, during initial questioning by the police, the accused said that he was planning second marriage and his one-month-old son had become an obstacle in this matter.
Disturbed over the birth of his son, Mohd Suleiman on Wednesday at about 10 pm, while his wife & mother were preparing dinner, he picked up the boy and ran outside the house.
Suleiman was chased by his mother, but after some distance, the accused threw his son into the field and the boy died on the spot due to injuries.
The mother of the accused and villagers informed the police at Rajouri and taking cognizance of the gravity of the matter; the police registered a case under section 302 IPC (FIR No.536) and rushed to the village & started an investigation.
“As the accused disappeared from home after the gruesome incident, he was chased by a police team headed by Fareed Ahmed, SHO, and assisted by Mohd Farooq, Assistant Sub-Inspector, and was apprehended today from Muradpur while on way to Jammu,” said SSP, Mohd Aslam.
“The police are investigating the matter from all angles, including his initial statement of the second marriage, whether he is a drug addict or mentally upset” SSP added.
According to the initial questioning of Suleiman, he is quite normal.
