JAMMMU OCTOBER, 13:–Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JK-BADC), a registered organization working for the welfare of residents of border areas of J & K have urged the Union Ministry of Tourism, J & K government and tourism department of J & K to lay stress on promoting border tourism in border districts of J & K.
The organization in a statement said there is lot of potential in tourism sector in J & K therefore it is apt for the government authorities to concentrate on this sector.
Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of JK-BADC and former Vice Chancellor said that to provide employment opportunities to the local youth of the border districts of J & K it is right time for concerned officers and departments to build tourism infrastructure in these areas as the International Border and Line of Control are silent for more than 18 months now. People of Border area are thankful to the government of India for the peace initiative that have silenced the guns and cannon on IB and LoC. He stated that the peace incentive should reach the people by way of building better roads, infrastructure in border areas to attract tourists in these areas.
Citing the example of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, Dr Shazad said that these two districts have huge potential as even in peak summer season when rest of Jammu division suffer with heat and humidity many hilly areas of these districts remain refreshing , fresh with natural breeze and can serve Local, National and even International tourists besides pilgrimages in these districts.
