RAJOURI, JULY 16 :—-Under the innovative School Health Program; introduced first time by Dr.Iqbal Malik, BMO Kandi Health Block; in Rajouri district, another special medical-cum-awareness camp was organised at the government higher secondary school (GHSS) at Budhal in Kotranka sub-district.
Under this innovative ‘school health program’ students are being provided holistic health services in their classrooms by Health Department Kandi (Kotranka).
This weekly series of School Camps are being organised every Saturday in Block Kandi under the directions of Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Saleem Ur Rahman, and Dr. Hamid Zarger CMO Rajouri.
This unique series is highly appreciated by students, parents, and teachers which for the first time in district Rajouri has been implemented by Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO Kandi Health Block.
The Health team provided counselling to adolescent boys and girls and distributed iron/ calcium and albendazole tablets.
“Laboratory services, including blood grouping, HB testing were also available in the camp for the students. Awareness regarding HIV-AIDS, use of iodized salt, mental health, Anaemia Mukt Bharat etc. was given” said Dr. Iqbal Malik, BMO.
He added that training on the proper technique of hand washing and the importance of hygiene for good health was also given to the students.
The Health team also talked about menstrual hygiene and menstrual napkins were also distributed.
Students were screened for health issues and were given treatment for their minor ailments on the spot.
Free medicines were distributed including Ayurvedic tonics and immunity boosters.
Students expressed their gratitude to the health department for this great initiative.
