RAJOURI, MAY 14:--On Saturday District Development Commissioner (DDC) Vikas Kundal visited the upc oming Government Medical College (GMC) campus at Maira village and took stock of the progress on GMC campus building and functioning of the institution & facilities available for the students.
It is pertinent to mention here that the construction work on GMC building project was approved at a cost of Rs 139 crore (first phase) and was started in the year 2017.
The project was to be completed by March 2019 but it has already been delayed by about three years.
Vikas Kundal, DDC also chaired a meeting of the GMC & PWD officials/officers to review the functioning of the institution and the facilities available for the students.
The meeting was attended by the CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; SE PWD, Nissar Hussain; SE PDD, Roshan Lal; MS GMC, Mehmood Bajar; ExEn PWD Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; ExEn PDD Rajouri, Mohd Hasan, and other concerned officers.
The DDC, Vikas Kundal was informed that the Administrative and Academic blocks are complete in all respects but the formal handover-takeover is still pending.
A few days back, Dr.Shashi Sudan, in-charge principal GMC Rajouri in a meeting chaired by DDC had raised issues like inadequate water supply and power in the new GMC complex.
Today also the GMC authorities highlighted a number of issues before the DDC, Vikas Kundal including inadequate power & water supply, and sought the intervention of the district administration for the smooth functioning of the institution.
The DDC assured appropriate measures to redress the genuine concerns within the shortest possible time in the larger interest of the students.
During a visit to the upcoming GMC campus building, the DDC also inspected the administrative Block, hostel block, and basic facilities & directed the concerned to maintain proper cleanliness and sanitation in and around the institution.
