GMC&AH Rajouri celebrates International Nurses Day.

RAJOURI, MAY 13:–On Thursday International Nurses day was celebrated in Associated Hospital & Government Medical College (AH&GMC) under the supervision of Dr. Shashi Sudan, Principal & Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mehmood.
International Nurses Day is being observed on 12th of May every year across the world to celebrate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the English social reformer, statistician, and founder of Modern Nursing.
This day is dedicated to that strong pillar of the health care system, which works day and night for the people.
In 1974, the International Council of Nurses declared 12th May every year to be celebrated as an International Nurses Day to be celebrated.
This day is commemorated to show gratitude towards the Nurses as Health Care System is incomplete without their cooperation and service.
Dr. Vijay Gupta, Professor and HoD ENT (also in-charge Principal); Medical Superintendent, Dr. Mehmood Hussain Bajar and others threw light on the importance of celebrating of International Nurses Day
“For more than two years, the whole world is fighting with the corona epidemic, and our corona warriors contributing the most to it. Not only have our forefront warriors (doctors & nurses) but their near and dear ones also lost their lives” they said.
“While the doctors played an important role in curing the patients, the nurses also spent their days and nights serving the patients. Never before in the past, the world has seen such a time that even family members were advised to stay away from their patients, but the nurses were working 24X7 without keeping any distance and not fearing about their own life” they added.
When the covid-19 had not made its presence, the nurses were regarded as the next serving individuals after the mother.
When no one was ready to be on the side of a covid-19 patient, there was only hope in the form of a Nurse doing everything from washing the body, putting on clothes, giving medicine and oxygen, regularly checking pulse, oxygen level, blood pressure level, sugar level.
The services of the nurses are always regarded as noble work. Their contribution will never go unnoticed when everybody was saving himself from visiting & attending to a Covid-19 pandemic patient, nurses and doctors were the only ones who worked tirelessly day and night.
A voluntary blood donation camp was also organised on the occasion under the supervision of Dr. Mehmood Hussain and in-charge Blood Bank, Assistant Professor Dr. Irm Yasmeen and the Nurses donated blood.
