Two EMRSs will be made functional from current session in Rajouri.

RAJOURI, APRIL 17:–Two newly established Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) will be made operational from 2022-23 session in the Rajouri district.
The admission process has already been initiated and the submission of the application the last date is April 18.
One EMRS is coming up at Gurdhan Bala (in the vicinity of Rajouri town) with an estimated cost of Rs 15.91 crore and 2nd is situated at Hubi (in Kotranka tehsil).
The ELMRS is a Central Government scheme for the promotion of education among the Tribal communities across India.
In the month of February Vikas Kundal, DDC Rajouri visited the site to take stock of the progress on EMRS at Gurdhan Bala and asked the executing agency to expedite the construction work and ensure the completion of the project within the set deadline.
“Eklavya Model school is an ambitious initiative of the Government of India to facilitate the tribal students to get quality education and to enable them to compete with the students of the rest of the country,” said DDC.
The National Educational Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) based on the proposal submitted by J&K Tribal Affairs Department has issued notification of one Principal and 3 trained graduate teachers (TGTs) for each school.
Meanwhile, teaching staff will be deputed by the District Management Committee of J&K EMRS Society till permanent recruitment is made.
The prescribed standard in the school shall be Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Governing Body constituted for establishment and management of EMRS in J&K at its first meeting held in the month of July last year had decided that admissions will be effected through a screening test for current academic session and initially the syllabus of J&K Board of School Education will be adopted till affiliation process with CBSE is completed.
90% of the total seats in both the EMRS in Rajouri district are reserved for the ST students and 10% of the total seats are kept reserved for non -ST Students wherein, preference shall be given to the children who have lost their parents due to insurgency, children of widow & children of specially- abled parents.
The total number of seats available for admission is 60 (30 Girls and 30 Boys) in each institution.
The selected candidates will be provided free boarding/lodging/Uniform/Text Books/Stationary material and all other facilities which shall be admissible from time to time in accordance with the EMRS guideline, issued by the Government from time to time.
On Saturday, Vikas Kundal DDC Rajouri chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review arrangements for conducting entrance examinations of students for admission in the Eklavya Model Residential Schools at Hubbi and Gurdhan Balla.
It was informed that against 120 seats 103 applications have been received so far. The DDC also discussed arrangements for conducting entrance examinations of students scheduled on April 24.
As the building of EMRS at Gurdhan Bala is coming up, the DDC constituted a 3-member committee, including District Tribal Officer; SDM, Thananamandi, and Principal GGMHSS Rajouri, to identify a suitable building where the classes for the students could be started.
The meeting was attended by the ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; Principal GGMHSS Rajouri, Abdul Raof Dar; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; DYSSO, Sunil Samyal; AD Planning Bansi Lal, and other concerned officers.
