Rajouri Township and its adjoining areas were liberated by the Indian Army on April 13, 1948 from the clutches of murderous & treacherous invaders from Pakistan.
Every year Indian Army under the aegis of the Ace of Spades Division celebrates April 13 as ‘Rajouri Day’. ? During ongoing weeklong celebrations, the Army has organised various events like a kite festival, painting competition for school children, medical camps, awareness programs on various people friendly schemes, Rajouri Marathon-Run for Fun, ride for Rajouri (along the LoC) etc and more events will be organised during next two days..
Amid ongoing Rajouri Day celebrations Ace of Spades Division on Sunday organised ‘Rajouri Marathon 2022- Run for Fun’.
About 770 defence personnel and civilians from all walks of life actively participated in various categories as per their age groups.
The highlight of the event was the participation of more than 200 women & girls in the event.
Maj Gen Rajeev Puri, GOC, Ace of Spades Division, Brigadier N V Nanjundeshwara, Station Commander; Dhirendra Singh Sindhu, DIG BSF Rajouri. The ‘Run for Fun’ was flagged off by Mrs. Reema Puri.
Cash prizes along with Rajouri Marathon merchandise were awarded to the winners of the marathon under various categories.
As assured during the promotion of the event, all the Marathoners were given Rajouri marathon merchandise consisting of a digital certificate of participation, t-shirts and ‘Finisher’ medals.
The aim of the marathon was to spread awareness on the importance of physical fitness and endurance and to foster a spirit of adventure, camaraderie, and brotherhood.
By providing a national-level platform for the marathoners of Rajouri, the event reinforced the Indian Army’s continued commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
An inter-school painting completion was also organised on this occasion at Valley View Army Public school with an aim to nurture and foster the simultaneously creating awareness in budding children.
The competition was held for the students between the age group of 5-17 years and more than sixty students from 7 schools took part in the competition on the themes ‘Swachh Bharat’, ‘ Apna Rajouri’, and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ’.
The first prize went to Army Goodwill Public School & Second Prize to Talim Ghar higher secondary school.
The event was graced by the Station Commander, ZEO and other dignitaries.
Amid ongoing Rajouri Day celebrations, Ride for Rajouri’ was also flagged off from Jammu on Saturday under the aegis of the Ace of Spades Division.
The 22 brave Riders will ride along the Line of Control (LoC) to express solidarity with the Armed Forces guarding the frontiers.
During their journey the riders will pay homage at Khori Temple, Brigadier Usman Memorial (in Nowshera), and Veer Bhadeshwar Temple (Lord Shiva temple situated along LoC in Keri sector).
