Two major projects halted in Rajouri town due to scarcity of funds.

Rajouri, March 15:–District Development Council Chairman, Naseem Liaqat along with Mohd Arif Jatt, President Rajouri Municipal Council (MC) on Tuesday inspected under-construction major projects in and in the vicinity of Rajouri town.
Both, DDC Chairman & MC President along with Maqbool Hussain, Executive Engineer, PWD; Qasam Choudhary, Qadir Khan, Shakoor Choudhary, all AEEs and Danish Sheikh & Zohaib Shawal, both JEs visited and inspected construction works at the Government Medical College complex, Boy’s and Girl’s hostels, the circular road of Rajouri town, New Abdullah Bridge and also visited the proposed site for District Court Complex in Muradpur village.
DDC Chairman, Naseem Liaqat found that the construction work on 120 meters, single-lane motorable Abdulah Bridge, and on Circular road has been halted due to paucity of funds.
“The matter will be taken up with the higher authorities to make available sanctioned funds so that the works can be started on these prestigious projects to avoid causing inconvenience to the general public,” said Naseem Liaqat and Arif Jatt.
Both the officials urged the Lieutenant Governor’s office to continue working on these projects and to complete them as soon as possible.
A Circular road is an important alternate link within the town connecting the New bridge to Tariq Bridge, thereby reducing the overall distance by around 4-5 kilometers and also helping in lessening the congestion.
Abdullah Bridge is also a major project which was sanctioned under languishing projects involving Rs 620 lakh and being executed by PWD.
The original date for the completion of Abdullah Bridge project was March 2021 but due to the continuous paucity of funds, the construction work on both projects has been delayed.
The construction of Government Medical College Rajouri, which is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 139 crore, has also been delayed due to the sluggish work performance of the Executing Agency (PWD).
“The construction work of Abdullah Bridge, which was halted for about three months due to paucity of funds, will be resumed from tomorrow (Wednesday)” said Maqbool Hussain, Executive Engineer, PWD.
