86.4% target achieved on 1st day of IPPI drive in Rajouri

RAJOURI FEBRUARY 27:–Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) drive for the children of 0-5 year commenced on Sunday across Rajouri district.
According to the Health Department, about 1,09,705 children will be vaccinated in the district.
Vikas Kundal, District Development Commissioner (DDC) kick-started the 3- day Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization campaign in the district by administering pulse polio drops to a child here at Gujjar Mandi n the presence of Dr. Shamim Un Nisa, CMO; Dr. Anees Altaf Nabi, Deputy CMO.
Dr. Shamim IUn Nisa informed that 639 vaccination booths have been established in the six medical blocks of the district with the adequate deployment of officials from different departments.
On the first day of the IPPI drive out of 1,09,705 targeted children, 94,835 children have been administrated polio drops (86.45%).
In Kandi Health Block pulse polio program was inaugurated by a Block Medical Officer, Kotranka Dr. Iqbal Malik.
Out of 22145 targeted children, 18641 (84.18%) children were administrated polio drops in the Kandi health block.
“Total 124 polio booths have been established while 496 employees, including volunteers, members of NGOs, government teachers, AWW, and ASHAs were employed to cover this huge task in Kotranka and Budhal,” said Dr. Iqbal Malik.
The highest number of children, i.e 8639 out of a targeted 9233 (93.57 %) were administered polio drops in the Sunderbani health block followed by 91.66 % (20608 out of targeted 22484) in the Manjakot health bl ock.
