Gross violation of COVID SOPs likely to cause increase in positive cases.

RAJOURI JANUARY 06:– For the last few days, the Rajouri district has witnessed an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases.
Doctors, health employees, and students are also among the infected persons.
Following the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic, Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) administration has made RAT/RT-PCR testing mandatory for every visitor to the hospital.
The district administration has also established testing centers at the entry points of the district and the administration has also constituted special teams to strictly enforce Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and stepped up its COVID containment measures
Vikas Kundal, Deputy Commissioner has already issued directions for close monitoring of the travellers and vaccination of all the eligible persons.
The main reasons for an increase in the number of positive cases are an open violation of CABs as most of the people visit markets without masks, not keeping social distancing, attending functions (all types) in large numbers etc.
In an order issued today, the Directorate of Health Services has decided not to sanction the leaves of the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff & other officials under consideration of Directorate level/ respective offices of CMOs /other DDOs etc (barring maternity/extreme medical exigencies), keeping in view the resurge of COVID Pandemic.
On Wednesday, 5 persons, including a doctor & health employee, were detected positive in the district and the number of active cases reached 21 officially (23 un-officially).
At present, there are 21 active cases in the district out of which 7 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, and CCCs.
Two patients are under treatment in GMC&AH Rajouri and in the Army /BSF hospitals, 14 patients are in home isolation, one is admitted in the Triage and 4 patients are under treatment outside the district.
Despite inclement weather on Wednesday as many as 8157 people above 18 years of age were administered first (988) and second (7169) Covid vaccine doses across the district, thus bringing the cumulative number of doses administered in the district to 10,012,436.
During the first & second waves7,33,910 tests, including RAT (5,59,675) and RT-PCR (1,74,235) have been conducted to date in the Rajouri district among them 11395 were tested positive out of which 11135 have recovered while 239 died including 184 during the second wave.
The Enforcement Teams in Rajouri district on Tuesday have recovered a fine of Rs 21,700 from 205 violators of Covid SOPs taking the total amount fined since April 1, 2021 to Rs 76,35,124.
