RAJOURI OCTOBER 06:--Wildlife team has rescued three Leopard cubs who were spotted in (fell) the under-construction water storage tank by the people in a remote Shahpur village in Rajouri district.
The rescue team of Wildlife from Rajouri was headed by Mohd Shabir, Forester HQ (Wildlife).
“All the three cubs, about 5-6 months old were first tranquilised by the Wildlife team and then were brought to Rajouri HQ in a cage for treatment and observation. They will soon be reunited with the mother after keeping them under observation for a few hours” said Mushtaq Chowdhary, Wildlife Warden, Rajouri-Poonch range having HQ at Rajouri.
“The cubs are to be reunited with the mother after noticing her presence in a particular area. Our team is camping in the village to locate her with the help of villagers” said Wildlife Warden.
As the cubs were separated from the mother, she will definitely come in search of her cubs and can become dangerous for human beings if she will not find the cubs.
The matured cubs could be captured only after being made unconscious by using a tranquiliser gun and then were kept in the iron cage and were brought to Rajouri Wildlife HQ to be kept under observation for a few hours.
The villagers informed the Deputy Commissioner about the cubs that fell in the under-construction water storage tank.
A team of Wildlife professions was rushed to the Shahpur village in the Kotranka sub-district with a medical kit and other equipments under the supervision of Sudesh Kumar Range Officer (Wildlife).
“It was the first incident of rescuing the cubs of Leopard in the current year, however, earlier three grown Leopard were rescued by our teams at different places and were released in the forests,” said Mushtaq Chowdhry, Warden Wildlife.
