RAJOURI OCTOBER 04:— In a catastrophic incident, a father has killed his four-year-old son, and when came to know that he has committed a heinous crime in a fit of rage; he also consumed a poisonous substance and is struggling for life in sub-district hospital at Nowshera.
The tragic incident happened in village Kanara under the jurisdiction of Nowshera police station in Rajouri district on Monday evening.
According to sources Manjeet Singh, who is working in a Gurudwara somewhere in Punjab, came to his village 4-5 days ago.
He was married to Surinder Kour of village Lam & belongs to a poor family. It was his second marriage because his first wife had died in an accident.
Manjeet is a father of two sons, one each from both the wives. Sources added on October Manjeet thrashed his wife as both had strained relations because of unknown reasons and she left the house for Lam.
On Sunday Manjeet visited his in-laws and asked them to send his wife along with him. But reportedly Surinder Kour refused and he came back to Kanara along with his 4 years old son Ramandeep Singh.
Reportedly and as per initial reports in a fit of rage, as his wife refused to come with him, Manjeet either consumed liquor or took drugs and under the influence of intoxication/drunkenness, he thrashed Ramandeep severely.
According to physical checking of Ramandeep’s body, doctors found that Manjeet had also attempted to cut the veins of the child but he had died due to strangulation.
According to initial investigation, Manjeet after noticing the heinous crime (death of Ramandeep) he also attempted to commit suicide by cutting his veins.
As per sources his elder son (yet to be confirmed by the police) when found Ramandeep dead and father unconscious, he raised an alarm and both were brought to sub-district hospital in the evening by Harbansh Singh father of Manjeet.
Manjeet might have committed the crime about 10-15 hours before the matter came to light likely due to strained relations of the couple. The police have started the investigation,” said Amit Verma, Additional SP, Nowshera.
Manjeet is under treatment at Nowshera hospital and was still unconscious reportedly due to overdoses.
He has been booked under sections 302 (murder) IPC at Nowshera police station and the police have started further investigation.
Manjeet was likely to be shifted to AH&GMC at Rajouri for further treatment.
