GREF’s Casual Paid Worker dies,another injured due to electric shock.

Rajouri, :–A Casual Paid Worker (CPL) engaged by GREF’s Road Construction Company (RCC) died due to electric shock while another was injured when the iron ladder used for the construction of the boundary wall touched the high tension wire in Budhal town in Rajouri district today.
The deceased namely Mohd Saqeer,24 years was the only bread earner in the family and is survived by his wife, about one-year-old daughter, a handicapped brother, and father suffering from paralysis.
Injured identified as Mohd Azam is under treatment in Government Medical College hospital at Rajouri and is stable.
Both along with others were working as Casual Paid Labourers (CPLs) with 110 RCC and were engaged in the fencing of the camp boundary wall situated in Budhal town.
“While changing the location they were shifting the iron ladder and accidentally it touched the high tension wire and Mohd Saqeer died on the spot due to electric shock,” said Manzoor Naik, social activist, and BJP youth leader.
Immediately after the mishap, CO of the RCC and Mustaj Choudhary, SHO Budhal reached the spot and shifted the injured to GMC Rajouri.
As an immediate help, the OC provided Rs20,000 to the aggrieved family for the last rites of the deceased.
“Adequate compensation is paid to the deceased family along with an ex-gratia amount because the deceased was only 24 years old and the only bread earner in the family,” said Manzoor Naik.
He informed that the CO of 110 RCC has assured to prepare the file at the earliest so that suitable financial assistance from the Labour Department and GREF can be provided to the family.
Manzoor Naik has also demanded that the injured labourer should also be compensated fairly.
“A thorough probe needs to be undertaken to look into any issues of negligence by the civil department or the GREF administration to ensure that such unfortunate incidents can be avoided in the future.
CO, 110 RCC has also assured suitable financial assistance for the injured labourer and said GREF will bear his treatment expenses.
