RAJOURI, JULY 20: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today launched a youth livelihood programme ‘Mumkin’ by distributing subsidized small commercial vehicles among 41 young selected beneficiaries.
Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar; LDM JK Bank, Jyoti Prakash; ARTO, Shami Kumar Sharma; Employment Officer, Mohd Aslam and youth from different areas of the district attended the launching event.
Mumkin aims to uplift, mentor and provide sustainable livelihood to the youth and the idea behind this initiative is to provide small commercial vehicles to youths with reasonable subsidies both from the manufacturer and the government, enabling them to earn a decent livelihood.
Under the scheme, eligible young people will be providing financial assistance for the purchase of light commercial vehicles such as taxis, minibuses, light commercial vehicles, tempo and other modes of transportation of similar nature to the public.
The beneficiaries under the scheme are supported by Ashok Leyland and the Govt of J&K through cash assistance to meet their margin requirements including insurance/registration charges and initial repayment obligation (EMIS).
While speaking on the occasion, the District Development Commissioner said that the UT Government is committed to providing the best possible platforms to the unemployed youth of the UT to enable them to earn their livelihood on their own and helping them to live a dignified life.
The District Development Commissioner added that Mumkin aims to move towards the creation of a better socio-economic ecosystem, self-employment opportunities and elimination of poverty among the youth.
The District Development Commissioner informed that as many as 1000 youths of the district would be covered under the scheme in its first phase and the cases of 200 beneficiaries stand sanctioned as of now.
The District Development Commissioner stressed the concern to disseminate awareness about the scheme among the masses so that more and more individuals get benefited.
The District Development Commissioner also urged the unemployed youth to come forward and avail the benefits under the scheme.
