Bovine transportation in Rajouri only on DM’s permission & between 7 am to 7 pm.

Rajouri June 27 :-‘District Magistrate Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan; after several complaints of bovine smuggling, violation of permission(s) for the transportation of livestock (especially in respect of time & registration of the vehicle), in an orden has restricted the transportation of bovines between 7 am and 7 pm and only after permission from the office of the District Magistrate.
This step was also taken by keeping in view the unfortunate incident that happened on the intervening night of June 21 & 22 when a 20 -year old boy was thrashed and killed by about 5 persons (allegedly cow vigilante) near Muradpur village when he was on his way home in a vehicle with a buffalo.
“A number of cases of illegal bovine smuggling have been reported by the police (FIRs registered). There is an urgent need to adopt defined procedure in the grant of permissions and transportation of livestock enabling hassle-free transportation of the bovines of genuine livestock farmers and keeping a check on bovine smuggling” DM order reads.
“In view of recent incident and cases reported, there is every apprehension of breach of law & order, and incidents leading to harm or injury to persons or property movable or immovable. There are reasons to believe that some attempts may be made to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the region” the order said.
DM in the order said: “The permission (s) for purchase/transportation of bovines shall be issued by District Magistrate/Additional DM on the recommendation of the office of Chief Agriculture/Chief Animal Husbandry Officers (for dairy projects) after the case(s) w forwarded by the concerned Tehsildar”.
“The timings of transportation shall be between 7 am & 7 pm (& same mechanism shall be followed for families migrating to higher reaches”.
The Order also said that Additional DC; SDM, Tehsildar, Additional SP, SDPO, SHO, concerned shall maintain strict vigil in their respective areas & shall not allow the transportation of bovines beyond fix hours.
“No movement of bovines shall be permitted without permission from the office of DM”.
