DC Rajouri chairs first maiden meet of water conservation club; issues slew of directions and advisories

RAJOURI, JUNE 28: The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today chaired a meeting with the concerned members of water conservation club to discuss with them the strategy for effective conservation and management of the water resources in the district.

Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal; ADC Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Sambayal; ADC Kalakote, Krishan Lal; ADC Koteranka, Surinder Mohan Sharma; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACR, Tahir Mustafa Malik; AC Defence, Saleem Qureshi; DFO Nowshera, Suresh Manda, DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; CAO, Shabana Azmin; WWO, Women Welfare Officer, Dr. Anum Mirza; besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.

While speaking during the meeting the Deputy Commissioner said conservation and preservation of water bodies is the duty of every citizen and appealed to the general public to give their valuable contribution in this regard.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Tehsildars to identify all the defunct hand pumps in their respective tehsils and submit the report in this regard with the shortest possible time so that they can be repaired timely to mitigate the sufferings of the common masses.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officers to disseminate the message of water conservation to the public especially the women folk in the rural areas as women are the most sufferers in the times of water scarcity.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress with respect to the E-registration of the women with the water conservation club.The concerned officer informed that as many as 2500 women have been registered as of now and concrete measures are being taken to register maximum women with the club.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officer to speed up the process of registration and generate mass awareness among the common masses about the importance of fresh water and the ways to preserve it.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned officer from the Forest Department to carry out massive plantation drives to enhance the green cover in the district.

The DDC asked the concerned officers to jointly formulate a suitable plan for the overall development and Welfare of the youth in the district.

It was also decided in the meeting that special youth clubs would be constituted in each panchayat who would specifically make efforts to address water conservation related issues and concerns of the youth of their respective panchayats.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that youth club members would also disseminate the necessary information among the masses about various welfare schemes and programmes being implemented by different departments in the district.
