RAJOURIMAY, May 28:-‘Under Prime Minister’s initiative Mission Amrit Sarovar, 93 ponds have been identified across Rajouri district in a meeting of the concerned officers held on Friday that was chaired by Vikas Kundal, District Development Commissioner (DDC).
On April 24, Prime Minister launched a new initiative named Mission with a view to conserving water for the future Amrit Sarovar.
The Mission is aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district of the country as a part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Officers who attended the meeting included ACR, Imran Rashid Kataria; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid, and DSCO, Abdul Rashid.
DDC was informed that 93 ponds have been identified in the district which can be developed as Amrit Sarovars.
“The initiative was aimed at developing and rejuvenating water bodies in each district of the country as a part of the celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,” said the DDC.
Vikas Kundal, DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure that these Amrit Sarovars are developed strictly as per the guidelines of the Government along with the geo-coordinates.
He also directed the DSCO to extend the services of their department to ensure these Amrit Sarovars are developed well in time.
“Work with dedication and make synergised efforts to achieve the objectives of the mission in letter and spirit,” the DDC asked the concerned officers..
Meanwhile, the DDC also reviewed the status of restoration work on water bodies as per the directions of NGT.
It was informed that 74 water bodies are to be repaired.
He also asked the concerned officer to immediately start the work on these water bodies and complete the same within the shortest possible time.
