5 J&K BN NCC camp culminates at Nagrota Jammu

Poonch January 24:–7 days of organized training camp culminated with conduct of cultural event organized and choreographed by NCC cadets of 5 J&K BN at Nagrota. This is an annual training affair in which cadets are required to undergo before they become eligible for their ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate exam. Overall 250 cadets of all division/ wings of NCC participated and made it a success the camp was organized managed and supersized Col Shrikant Rai. CO 5 J&K battalion and staff.

These camps are unique as they provide opportunities to NCC cadet to learn and sharper their mental and physical skill in an organised manner under the supervision of trained PI staff. It provides a platform for cadets to showcase their individual skill and also perform group activities.

Training activities were undertaken to impart basic military training like firing / shooting, field craft, battle craft, patroling, military drill etc. The cadets are also exposed to non- military training and personality development programme. The cadets planned and planned and organize programme under their senior cadets. Emphasis was laid on physical and mental conditioning of cadets and know their strength. Towards that end obstacle course, 2.5 km and 1 mile(run) were organised. Cadets had to undergo daily physical tag and games as part of organized training.

The culmination of training was the conduct of cultural programme designed to showcase their internal talent. The show as planned, managed and choreographed by cadets . They showcase their personal and cultural talent.

The occasion was graced by Brig. Satish Kumar group commander Jammu wing who attended the event and gave a motivational talk to the cadets. He also felicitated the cadets by awarding prizes in various competition held during the week. He emphasized the role of NCC in shaping various individuals personality and how NCC help cadet in carrier opportunities. The event was followed by a Sumptons Bara khana as per the traditions of Army.

The camp also saw a various motivational task/ lectures by civilians dignitaries who visited the camp site and motivated the cadets by sharing their own experience. Motivational lecture on carrier avenues in police and paramilitary forces was delivered by Randhir Sngh SSP, 19th IRP battalion Kathua.The cadets were also given a lecture and demonstration over disaster management by home guard team. NCC cadets have a role to play in such situation and are required to assist the civil administration in such situation.

The annual training camp is an important part of cadets training as it is the culmination of various levels of training at school and colleges imparted by NCC officers and Army instructor. These camp add to the overall achievement of cadets and provide an platform to each NCC cadets to showcase their skills. They prepare cadets to become more confident in their abilities and most important prepare them for their future job opportunities.
