RAJOURI, JUNE 14:–On the information from a civilian, Nowshera police in Rajouri district recovered 251 ol e & rusted cartridges/ bullets, including 86 live, from an isolated area behind the building of sub-district hospital at Nowshera.
Sources said a man, namely Abdul Gafoor resident of village Bakori (Kotranka sub-district) and presently living in Nowshera town went to attend natural behind the hospital building where he spotted the dump of ammunition.
He immediately brought the matter to the notice of SHO, Nowshera.
On getting information, Additional SP Nowshera and in-charge SHO along with CRPF personnel reached the spot, and after the cordon of the area started the search.
During the search, the police recovered 4-5.56 mm cartridges (live); 8-7 mm old rusted cartridges (live); 11-old rusted bullets; 63- old rusted 7.62mm cartridges (live); and 165- old rusted 7.62 mm cartridges (empty).
A Sniffer dog was also brought to the spot for the identification of the person (s) who had dumped the ammunition in the back of the hospital building.
The police have started an investigation into this incident after lodging a formal complaint under relevant sections of the law.
