SRINAGAR, NOV 21:-Leading political figure of the state, Syed Saleem Gilani, met prominent Kashmiri leader and Member of Parliament Agha Syed Rohullah Mehdi in Srinagar today.
During the 45-minute meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on the growing public frustration over the current political developments in the region, the hardships being faced by the people, issues concerning the identity of the state’s populace, and the long-standing tradition of Hindu-Muslim-Sikh brotherhood.
Both leaders agreed that such interactions and exchange of ideas should continue in the larger interest of the people.
Syed Saleem Gilani was accompanied by renowned educationist Muhammad Akbar Bhat and Pir Tahir Qadri. It is noteworthy that Gilani had recently also met Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed.

SRINAGAR NOV 21:-In continuation of the recently held Drug Awareness Program at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, noted cultural activist and youth motivator Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shera on Friday visited Legends School, Kanitar, where he distributed Participation and Drug Awareness Certificates among students who actively took part in the awareness initiative.
The Drug Awareness Program, organized on 15 November 2025, was a collaborative effort of the Shahr-e-Khaas Literary & Cultural Welfare Society and Angel’s Cultural Academy, with crucial support from the J&K Excise Department (Excise Range Central Kashmir), Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL), J&K Bank, Shahr-e-Khaas Traders & Chambers, Rampage Advertising Agency, J&K Police, Srinagar Smart City, and RP Movies.
The event sought to sensitise the youth about the growing threat of drug abuse and to highlight the importance of preventive awareness across society.During the certificate distribution ceremony at Legends School, Dr. Shera lauded the enthusiasm of participating students and acknowledged their contribution in promoting the message of a drug-free society. He stressed the importance of continuing similar awareness initiatives and urged the youth to remain informed, responsible, and proactive in safeguarding their communities from the menace of substance abuse.
Dr. Shera expressed heartfelt gratitude to all organisers, volunteers, teachers, and Imran Rafiq Shah, Chairman of Legends School, for their support in making the initiative successful.
He extended special thanks to Mr. Farhan Kitab, Media In-Charge for the event, praising his dedication, professionalism, and consistent efforts in ensuring impactful media coverage and outreach. Dr. Shera noted that Mr. Kitab’s contribution played a pivotal role in amplifying the program’s message to a wider audience.The event concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work collectively towards building a healthier, aware, and drug-free Kashmir.

BGSBU Talent Gaining Attention of Top Recruiters: VC TPC Conducts High-Impact Sessions on Soft Skills, Interviews & Entrepreneurship

RAJOURI NOV 21:-In a major initiative to boost employability and professional preparedness among students, the Training & Placement Cell (TPC) of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, on Thursday organised two specialised career guidance sessions at the School of Biosciences & Biotechnology.
The sessions—“Strategies of Facing Interviews / Soft Skills” and “Skill Development and Entrepreneurship”—received an enthusiastic response from students of Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Environmental Sciences.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal praised the TPC for conducting an impactful programme aimed at enhancing career prospects of students. He noted that BGSBU graduates are steadily gaining recognition from top recruiters, with many securing placements in companies such as ICICI Bank, Della Resorts, Reliance Jio and Okaya. He attributed this success to the University’s sustained emphasis on quality education and skill-driven training.
Registrar Mr. Abhishek Sharma also appreciated the TPC’s ongoing career counselling and capacity-building efforts, stating that such initiatives significantly enhance student confidence and readiness for emerging career opportunities.
A total of 91 students participated in the programme, which was attended by faculty members including Dr. Tanvir Ul Hassan Dar, Dr. Aasim Mir, Dr. Shafqat Nabi Mughal, Dr. Mohd Asghar, Dr. Mohd Hanief, Dr. Saima Aslam, Dr. Raja Amir, Dr. M.A. Hanan Khan, Dr. Shoeb Ahmad, Dr. Arif Tasleem Jan and Mr. Zakir Hussain.
In the first session, Dr. Aasim Mir spoke on interview handling, communication skills, body language and confidence-building. He emphasised the importance of strong self-introduction, company research and mock interview practice.
The second session, led by Dr. Shafqat Nabi Mughal, highlighted key technical competencies and laboratory skills required in the life sciences sector. He encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship opportunities in biotechnology start-ups, organic farming, diagnostics, waste management and nutraceuticals.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Tanvir Ul Hassan Dar (Member, TPC), while Mr. Zakir Hussain (Officer, TPC) delivered the vote of thanks.

LG Manoj Sinha Lays Foundation Stone for Construction of New Houses in Poonch & Rajouri HRDS India to Build 521 New Houses for Calamity- and Shelling-Affected Families; 1,500 Smart Homes Planned in First Phase Across J&K

RAJOURI NOV 21:-Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today laid the foundation stone for the construction of new houses for families affected by recent natural calamities and unprovoked Pakistani shelling during Operation Sindoor in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
Under the project, 133 fully damaged houses in Poonch and 388 in Rajouri will be rebuilt free of cost with assistance from the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India).
Reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Lieutenant Governor said that the administration is fully dedicated to the complete rehabilitation of affected families and to improving the quality of life in both border districts.
The LG highlighted that the government has already taken extensive measures to support affected families:
Ex-gratia relief and government jobs were provided to the Next of Kin (NoKs) of deceased civilians.
In Poonch, 13 NoKs received government jobs, and 14 families were provided ex-gratia relief.
Compensation was provided to 160 Kachcha and 425 Pucca house owners for rebuilding their homes.
In Rajouri, the NoK of a civilian martyred during Operation Sindoor received a government job, and 465 damaged houses were compensated.
Residential houses damaged due to natural calamities were also provided financial assistance.
The LG emphasized that no family will be deprived of their rights and fundamental needs, and commended the district administration, police, Army, CAPFs, volunteers, and civil society for their efforts in saving lives and supporting communities during crises. He also lauded HRDS India for its humanitarian initiative.
1,500 Smart Houses in First Phase
The Lieutenant Governor announced that 1,500 three-bedroom prefabricated Smart Houses will be constructed across the UT in the first phase, to be handed over within six months of foundation work. These homes will include:

Provision for solar panels in the second phase
Five-year maintenance by HRDS India
The Poonch and Rajouri houses alone will cost Rs. 51 crore, fully funded by HRDS India.
LG Sinha directed district authorities to ensure inclusion of all genuine beneficiaries, noting that there is no cap on the number of houses to be constructed.
“This project is meant for the economically weaker sections. Their welfare is the greatest service,” he said.
Key Development Interventions in Poonch & Rajouri
The LG underlined the unprecedented pace of development in the region in recent years:
1,125 bunkers completed in Poonch; proposal for 5,693 additional bunkers submitted.
2,923 bunkers constructed in Rajouri over the past five years, providing safety to border residents.
19 NoKs of terror-affected families in Rajouri and 9 in Poonch provided government jobs.
District and Police Administrations instructed to identify left-out terror-affected families for job appointments.
He noted that the people of Poonch and Rajouri, who suffered decades of neglect and cross-border terrorism, are today witnessing a new era of security, development, and empowerment.

Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Slams 20% Power Tariff Proposal; Says Omar Abdullah Government Has Betrayed Public Promises

SRINAGAR NOV 21:-Delivering today’s Friday Khutba in Kashmir, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Molvi Umar Farooq strongly condemned the Omar Abdullah–led government’s proposal to hike power tariffs by 20%.
He said the move exposes the government as “anti-people”, especially after it promised 200 units of free electricity, 12 free gas cylinders, and 10 kg ration per household during the elections.
“Instead of fulfilling these promises, the government is burdening the already struggling population with a steep tariff increase,” the Mirwaiz said, urging immediate withdrawal of the proposal.
