Waqar H. Bhatti Quits Apni Party, Appeals for Release of Youth Detained Under PSA

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

SRINAGAR NOV 03:-Social and political activist Waqar H. Bhatti today announced his decision to quit the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, citing personal reasons. Addressing the media after his recent release from Kathua Jail, where he had been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for the past several months, Bhatti said he continues to hold great respect for the Apni Party leadership, particularly its President, whom he described as “a humble and respectable person.”

Bhatti said his decision to step down was purely personal, adding that he intends to continue his work for public welfare as an independent social and political activist.

He also urged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to actively engage in mainstream politics, describing it as the most effective way to bring about societal and national progress. “Better governance can ensure a brighter future. The youth should not distance themselves from mainstream politics,” he said.

Appealing to the Central Government, Bhatti requested the authorities to consider releasing the young detainees held under the PSA across various jails, many of whom, he said, wish to live peaceful lives. “Their families are suffering. I urge the government to provide them a chance to rebuild their lives. It would be an act of immense kindness,” he added.

Bhatti also appealed to the youth not to be misled or exploited, warning that any action or statement against communal harmony or law would only cause harm to themselves and their families.

He lamented that political parties often use the issue of detainees for political gain, without genuinely supporting their cause. “No political party has truly stood by these young individuals languishing in jails,” he said.

Bhatti reaffirmed his commitment to continue working for peace, harmony, and the upliftment of society.
