Centre Betrayed Promises I Never Backed Violence

SRINAGAR SEPT 26:-Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday hit out at the BJP, saying his party would never allow the saffron party to come to power in the Union Territory.

Speaking to reporters, Omar said it was unfortunate that Wangchuk was arrested for raising genuine demands. “The way the central government was behind him since yesterday , it was expected they would act like this. Some promises were made to people in Ladakh before the Hill Council elections, just like promises were made to us here. But after securing participation in elections, the Centre turned away from them,” he said.

The CM alleged that the BJP has a habit of making commitments during elections but not fulfilling them later. “People in Ladakh participated in elections and even helped BJP win, but their promises remained unfulfilled. Similarly, some promises were made to us on the basis of which people voted and we formed a government. But again, they went back on their word,” he said.

Responding to criticism from the Leader of Opposition that he was exaggerating the situation in Ladakh, Omar said he has never justified violence. “I am not the LG of Ladakh, nor is its security my responsibility. The real question is why the promises made to Ladakh and to us were not kept,” he said.

Omar further lashed out at BJP, saying the party was trying to link statehood with its own political power. “Is it the compulsion of BJP that statehood will only be restored if their leader becomes the Chief Minister? If that is the case, then let them declare openly that J&K will not get statehood until BJP forms the government. We will never allow them to come to power here,” he added.

Omar said that his party would continue to serve people regardless of the Centre’s stance. “If they want to stop our statehood, let them. We will manage even without it, and we will continue to do our job,” he added.

RAJOURI-DELHI SEPT 25:-The Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Thursday signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the procurement of 97 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A, including 68 fighters and 29 twin-seaters, for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at a cost of over Rs. 62,370 crore (excluding taxes).
The delivery of these aircraft will commence in 2027-28 and be completed over six years.
The LCA Mk1A, the most advanced variant of the indigenously designed and manufactured fighter aircraft, will have an indigenous content of more than 64%. The new contract incorporates 67 additional items compared to the earlier LCA Mk1A deal signed in January 2021. Key upgrades include integration of advanced indigenous systems such as the UTTAM Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar, ‘Swayam Raksha Kavach’ electronic warfare suite, and control surface actuators, boosting the Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) initiative.
The project is backed by a strong vendor ecosystem of nearly 105 Indian companies directly engaged in component manufacturing. Production is expected to generate nearly 11,750 direct and indirect jobs annually over the next six years, giving a major fillip to the domestic aerospace industry.
The acquisition, being undertaken under the ‘Buy (India-IDDM)’ category of the Defence Acquisition Procedure 2020, aligns with the Government’s push for indigenisation and is expected to significantly enhance the IAF’s operational capabilities.
