DC Rajouri Conducts Tour of Block Darhal, Reviews Ongoing Projects and Addresses Local Issues

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 11: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today conducted an extensive tour of Block Darhal to inspect various ongoing developmental works and address local issues. The visit aimed at ensuring the timely completion of crucial infrastructure projects and improving public safety.
During his visit, the DC first toured the Chowkian to Sarootha road, being developed under the NABARD by the PWD department. The road, with a total length of 5 kilometers, is currently pending blacktopping due to unresolved issues with local residents. The Executive Engineer (EXEN) PWD apprised the DC of the situation, and in response, the DC directed Tehsildar Darhal to intervene and resolve the matter promptly, ensuring no further delays in the completion of the roadwork.
Following this, the Deputy Commissioner inspected several buildings, including the Primary School Sarootha and Middle School Sarootha, to assess their safety. He also visited Subcentre building at Sarootha and on finding that the building is not safe, he asked for immediate shifting.
The DC also visited the PWD Dakbunglow Darhal where he instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the pace of work on the Dakbunglow and ensure its timely completion. Similarly, he visited the Darhal Town road project and emphasized the need to accelerate construction to meet the deadlines.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting with concerned officers to address the menace of drug abuse in the region. The DC directed the Tehsildar Darhal and other officers to take effective measures to combat the the drug menace.

Chief Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Reviews J&K Cyber Security Action Plan

JAMMU SEPTEMBER 11:-Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level meeting to review the implementation of the Cyber Security Action Plan across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Secretary directed the swift rollout of the e-SAM portal for inventorization and monitoring of IT assets across all departments. It was informed that EDR and UEM solutions have already been deployed on over 5,100 Civil Secretariat devices, with the rollout to Head of Department (HoD) offices currently in progress.
The meeting reviewed Cyber Crisis Management Plans, the adoption of official government email IDs, and enforcement of USB restrictions to curb vulnerabilities. Dulloo stressed the need for proactive cyber hygiene and called for the early operationalization of the Mini-SOC in Jammu, which will subsequently be upgraded to a full-fledged Security Operations Centre (SOC).
He also directed departments to migrate to the Meghraj Cloud platform and adopt IPv6 for enhanced security and efficiency.
Urging strict adherence to timelines, the Chief Secretary asked all departments to work in close coordination with the IT Department, plug security gaps, and strengthen digital resilience for secure governance.

SRINAGAR SEPTEMBER 11:-Prominent socio-political activist, senior trade union leader, and civic reformer Mohammad Altaf Dar has voiced serious concern over the poor condition of internal link roads in Khawajabagh, Rajbagh.
The residents have expressed anguish that the stretch from the residence of Nazir Ahmed Dar (Bismillah) via the houses of Abdul Quyoom Dar, Mohammad Yousuf Dar, and adjoining areas has become nearly impassable due to waterlogging, potholes, and accumulated mud.
Being a vital link for school-going children, elderly residents, and daily commuters, the road’s dilapidated condition poses grave risks to both pedestrians and vehicles, particularly after rainfall.
The locals have appealed to the Hon’ble MLA Lalchowk Mr. Ahsan Pardesi, Divcom Kashmir & Concerned Departments to personally intervene and ensure immediate upgradation/ macadamization of the road on a priority basis. They stressed that timely redressal will not only ease daily hardships but also prevent further damage to the already deteriorating surface.
The community reiterated that this long-pending demand must be addressed at the earliest to restore smooth movement, civic convenience, and basic dignity in the locality.

BGSBU Rolls Out RFID Identity Cards for Faculty, Students, and Staff ; University takes major step towards digital transformation and campus security

RAJOURI SEPTEMBER 11:-Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has launched RFID-enabled identity cards, marking a significant advancement in its digital infrastructure and security systems. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal and Registrar Mr. Abhishek Sharma, IAS, who distributed the first batch of smart ID cards to faculty members.
This is the first time identity cards have been issued at BGSBU. The facility will be extended to students and non-teaching staff in a phased rollout.
Speaking at the launch, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal underlined the University’s commitment to modern technologies that enhance academic and administrative efficiency. Registrar Mr. Abhishek Sharma highlighted that the initiative aligns with BGSBU’s vision of building a secure, transparent, and digitally empowered campus.
The RFID-based ID cards will not only function as official identification but also streamline access to university facilities and services, reinforcing the institution’s drive towards digital transformation and a safer academic environment.

NEW DELHI SEPT 11:-A group of eminent tribal people from diverse backgrounds, representing various states, called on President Smt Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The group was at Rashtrapati Bhavan under the ‘Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan’ of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. A series of such meetings of Tribal leaders have been organised at Rashtrapati Bhavan under this initiative. This was the last meeting of this series.
The President said that we all should work to build a society and country with an environment of equality, justice and respect. She added that the culture and traditions of the tribal society should be preserved, and the rights of our tribal brothers and sisters should be protected.
The President appreciated the use of latest technologies for empowerment of tribals. She noted the recent launch of Adi Vaani, an AI-powered translation tool for tribal languages and termed it as an important step towards language and educational transformation in tribal areas.

DC Rajouri reviews working of Rural Development Department; emphasises timely achievement of targets

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 11: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting of the Rural Development Department (RDD) and took a comprehensive review of the progress of under different schemes and initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed block-wise generation of Person Days under MGNREGA, which currently stands at 30%. Expressing concern over the slow pace, he directed the concerned officers to expedite the process and furnish detailed reasons for the shortfall.
A key focus of the review was on the timely payment of wages to MGNREGA beneficiaries and the Aadhaar seeding status of the Job Card holders.
The Deputy Commissioner also assessed the progress of the supplementary plan under MGNREGA and construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Awas Plus. It was informed that out of the targeted 62,195 houses, a total of 58,607 have been completed so far. The DC directed the department to accelerate the remaining construction work to meet the set targets within the stipulated time frame.
Calling upon the officers, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to work with renewed commitment and zeal to meet public expectations and ensure timely delivery of services.
The meeting concluded with a firm resolve to overcome existing bottlenecks and ensure effective and time-bound implementation of all rural development schemes.

GMC Rajouri gets 500 KVA fully automatic Gensets to ensure 24×7 power supply ; Deputy Commissioner inspects facility after commissioning

RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 11: In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure, two 500 KVA fully automatic generators have been commissioned at Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH) Rajouri to make possible round the clock power.
Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma inspected the newly Commissioned facility today.
The generators, installed on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner under the supervision of JPDCL Rajouri in record time, will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the hospital during outages or natural calamities.
Pertinently, the load capacity of one genset is between 420–450 KVA, while that of the other is between 350–430 KVA, thereby ensuring an adequate backup for hospital operations.
As the blackouts in the past used to affect patient care, the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary, during their recent visit to the district, had specifically directed GMC for the installation of gensets to ensure reliable power backup. The commissioning of these gensets is in line with those directions.
With this crucial augmentation, GMC Rajouri is now better equipped to function round the clock without interruptions, ensuring seamless medical services to the people of Rajouri and adjoining districts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that reliable electricity is vital for operating life-saving equipment and enabling timely interventions during emergencies. He reiterated the commitment of the District Administration to continuously upgrade healthcare infrastructure at GMC&AH Rajouri to meet the needs of the public.

MLA Rajouri Meets CM Omar Abdullah, Seeks Special Package for Pir Panjal Flood Victims

RAJOURI SEPTEMBER 11:-MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed met Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to raise a series of critical issues concerning the development and welfare of the Rajouri constituency and the broader Pir Panjal region.
During the meeting, Iftkhar Ahmed strongly advocated for a special relief package for the flood-affected people of Pir Panjal. He emphasized the urgent need for financial aid, rehabilitation, and infrastructure restoration in the wake of recent natural disasters that have severely impacted the region.
Highlighting the education sector, MLA sought immediate financial assistance for Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), citing the university’s ongoing financial crisis. He called for enhanced grants to ensure its continued academic operations and long-term institutional development.
The MLA also pressed for allocation of dedicated funds for the repair and construction of lanes and drains under the Municipal Council Rajouri, stressing that improved civic infrastructure is key to public health and better urban living conditions.
To strengthen local governance, Mr. Iftkhar Ahmed urged the Chief Minister to establish a Mini Secretariat in Rajouri, which would decentralize administrative services and bring governance closer to the people.
Focusing on healthcare, the MLA raised serious concern over the shortage of staff at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri and the lack of a Cath Lab. He urged the Chief Minister to address these gaps at the earliest to strengthen critical care and emergency services in the region.
In addition, MLA Rajouri sought the upgradation of the Conference Hall and Dakbungalow in Rajouri, underscoring their importance in hosting official meetings, public events, and providing quality accommodation for visiting dignitaries and officials.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured MLA Iftkhar Ahmed that the government would take appropriate action on the matters raised, focusing on both immediate relief and long-term development.

The initiative seeks to promote the well-being of children by providing essential healthcare items, encouraging hygiene practices, and safeguarding overall child health.
The programme was coordinated by Ms. Nazma Sheikh, Coordinator of Mission Shakti, with active support from the Child Helpline 1098 Rajouri team led by Project Coordinator M.M. Nawab and Ateeq Mirza.
