    Owaisi Condemns Detention of J&K MLA Mehraj Malik under PSA

     NEW DELHI :-AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly condemned the detention of J&K MLA Doda Mehraj Malik of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)under the Public Safety Act (PSA), calling it “absolutely condemnable.”

    In his X handle Owaisi said Malik has become the first sitting MLA to be detained under the controversial law, which he described as “draconian” and consistently misused by successive governments to silence opponents.

    “Currently, the Union government has detained around 400 people under the PSA,” Owaisi pointed out, urging immediate revocation of the measure.

    SRINAGAR SEPT 08:-(KNC): CPI(M) leader and former Member Legislative Assembly M.Y. Tarigami on Monday strongly criticised the slapping of the Public Safety Act (PSA) on sitting MLA Mehraj-ud-din Malik, calling it a black and draconian law.

    In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, Tarigami termed “the slapping of PSA as black and draconian law, against MLA Mehraj-ud-din Malik.”

    “Slapping PSA on an elected member of the Legislative Assembly sets a very wrong precedent. Such a harsh and unjustified measure must be immediately revoked’, Tarigami said. (KNC)

    SRINAGAR SEPTEMBER 08:-On the occasion of the 43rd death anniversary of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Sahib, prominent tribal leader and Cabinet Minister Javed Ahmed Rana visited the mausoleum of the late leader in Hazratbal, Srinagar, and offered heartfelt tributes and prayers in remembrance of the legendary statesman.

    In a message shared on social media, the Minister described Sheikh Abdullah as a “visionary and fearless advocate of the people’s rights,” who laid the foundation of modern Jammu & Kashmir with his steadfast commitment to dignity, justice and self-respect for its people.

    “Sheikh Sahib’s life was a testament to the enduring ideals of secularism, democracy and unity across communities,” Rana stated.

    “His struggle was not merely political, but deeply rooted in the ethos of social empowerment and communal harmony. His legacy is not just to be remembered— it is to be lived.”

    The Minister emphasized that the best way to honour Sheikh Abdullah’s immense sacrifices is by collectively striving to build a peaceful, inclusive and progressive Jammu & Kashmir.

    He noted that Sheikh Sahib’s vision continues to resonate in the hearts of millions, especially the marginalized and underrepresented communities whom he tirelessly championed.

    Calling upon the youth of the region, Rana urged them to take inspiration from Sheikh Abdullah’s ideals. “Our younger generations must draw strength from his vision and dedicate themselves to the principles of inclusive development, social justice and democratic values,” he said.

    RAJOURI SEPTEMBER 08:-The Sikh community has voiced strong indignation over Doda MLA Mehraj Malik’s alleged use of abusive language against Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh. The remarks, which have deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs across Jammu and Kashmir, have sparked widespread anger and calls for accountability.

    In response, the District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) Rajouri convened a press conference, urging authorities to initiate strict and immediate action against the legislator.

    Community leaders stressed that such indecent behavior is unbecoming of any elected representative and poses a threat to social harmony. They cautioned that if timely steps are not taken, the Sikh community may be compelled to escalate its agitation.

    RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 08: A three-day District Process Lab Training Programme, under the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, commenced today at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University. The training programme, being held from September 08 to 10, is designed to build the capacity of field staff to strengthen governance and development initiatives in tribal areas.

    The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma.

    In his address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in uplifting tribal areas. He emphasized that meaningful outcomes can only be achieved through concerted efforts and collaboration to bridge gaps in key development indicators.

    Reiterating the district’s vision for tribal empowerment, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to create self-reliant, resilient and inclusive communities across all 104 tribal villages of Rajouri. He underlined that ensuring every household benefits from government schemes will significantly improve governance outcomes and foster holistic tribal development.

    The training programme places special focus on capacity-building through skill development workshops, interactive sessions, and the implementation of the Dharti Aabha Plan for sustainable and inclusive tribal growth. It also emphasizes grassroots participation by involving Aadi Karmayogis, Aadi Sahyoogis and Aadi Saathis in the effective execution of welfare schemes and programmes.

    Serving as a platform to align strategies and build the capacities of frontline staff, the three-day District Process Lab is expected to ensure last-mile delivery of services and promote inclusive growth in tribal areas.

    The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Auqil Nuvaid; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Sheraz Chowhan; District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem; Chief Agriculture Officer, Madan Gopal Singh; Chief Medical Officer, Dr Manohar Rana and other officers and officials.
