    RAJOURI AUGUST 25:-The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday said that it has trapped and arrested a Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 to avoid implicating a complainant in a case of the Lam Police Post, falling under Nowshera Police Station in Rajouri district.

    According to ACB officials, the complainant alleged that SgCt Arif Iqbal, posted at Police Post Lam, had called him telephonically regarding a complaint lodged by a resident of Pukharni, Tehsil Qila Darhal, Rajouri. The constable allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe for himself and the In-charge of Police Post Lam to ensure that the complainant was not implicated in the case.

    Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which conducted a discreet verification. Subsequently, FIR No. 05/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri, and an investigation was launched.

    During the probe, a trap team was constituted. The accused constable was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot after following due legal procedures.

    A search was also conducted at the residential premises of the accused. Further investigation is underway.

Advocate Asaf Chowdhary, youth leader of the National Conference, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Javed Rana for what he termed a “historic step” that will change the future of hundreds of students in the far-flung region.

    Chowdhary said that for years, children from Jugal and adjoining villages had faced immense difficulties in pursuing studies beyond the middle level. Parents were compelled to send their children to distant places, a burden that was financially straining and unsafe, particularly for girl students.

    “With this decision, a long-pending dream of the people of Jugal has finally been realized,” Chowdhary said. “The establishment of a High School within the locality will bring education to the doorstep of poor and marginalized families, ensuring that no child is deprived of learning opportunities due to distance or lack of resources.”

    He also praised the vision and commitment of Cabinet Minister Javed Rana, noting that the Minister has always worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the downtrodden and the development of Mendhar constituency. “This step reflects Rana dedication towards empowering the youth through education,”

    He appealed to parents to make the best use of this opportunity and encourage their children to pursue higher studies. “Education is the only tool that guarantees social progress and economic stability,” He said, assuring the public that he will continue to raise their genuine demands at every platform and remain steadfast in his mission to serve the community.

The event was presided by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS which was attended by other senior Police officers of the district.

    The respectable citizens, community members, farmers, Auqaf Committee representatives, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Teachers, members of various traders and other participants participated in the event whole-heartedly.

    SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal attentively listened to the grievances and concerns put forth by the participants. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Ganderbal ensured that Ganderbal Police shall remain accessible to the people, and that their grievances relating to Police will be addressed immediately and in an effective manner and the grievances pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments to resolve them on priority.

    He further stressed upon the Zero tolerance policy of Ganderbal Police towards drugs and requested the participants to come forward with any information regarding the menace of drugs in their neighborhood and assured them of immediate action.
    The participants were requested to co-operate with Police in maintaining law and order in the area and identifying Anti-National and Anti-Social Elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment.

    Participants in the event expressed their gratitude for the initiative of Ganderbal Police to organise the event and making it an interactive session, which they deemed essential for building trust and cooperation between Police and the Public.

    SRINAGAR AUGUST 25:-Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has strongly condemned the unwarranted confrontation by police authorities with former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, earlier today.

    In a strongly-worded statement, Inqlabi said, “The high-handed behavior of the police against a respected political leader is unacceptable in any democratic society. Mehbooba Mufti represents the democratic aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and any attempt to silence or intimidate her is an assault on democratic values and constitutional rights.”

    He further stated that such acts reflect the shrinking space for political dissent and the increasing misuse of state machinery to stifle opposition voices. “The administration must be held accountable for such authoritarian actions which only deepen alienation and mistrust among the people,” Inqlabi added.

    He urged civil society, human rights organizations, and democratic institutions to take serious note of the incident and demanded immediate action against those responsible for the confrontation.

    RAJOURI, AUGUST 25:– District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today conducted a whirlwind tour of Kotranka Subdivision to inspect ongoing development works, assess disaster preparedness and address public grievances.

    During the visit, the DDC inspected the PMGSY road from Peeri to Tarkassi and directed officials to expedite the pace of work to ensure timely completion. He instructed that the field officials shall remain stationed in their stations until the project is completed. He further directed the AEE PMGSY to establish an office near the Zonal Education Office, Kotranka & closely monitor the progress of all ongoing PMGSY projects in the subdivision.

    The DDC also reviewed disaster preparedness measures and assessed damages caused by recent rainfall. He directed ACD to prioritise disaster relief works, especially in areas that have reported damages.

    During the visit, the DC met with local people and listened to their grievances and issued on-the-spot directions for the redressal of the same.

    ACD Auqil Naveed; Tehsildar Syed Sahil Ali; Executive Engineer PMGSY, and other district and sectoral officers accompanied the District Development Commissioner during the visit.

    RAJOURI, AUGUST 25:- Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of the DC Office to review and finalize the Phase-II data of the 11th Agricultural Census.

    The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the district’s disaster preparedness measures and damage reports received from various tehsils.

    During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of accurate and error-free Girdawari entries, he instructed the Agriculture Department to cross-check all reports submitted by revenue officials to ensure accuracy and credibility of the data.

    To further strengthen monitoring, the Deputy Commissioner ordered joint inspections by officials from the Agriculture and Revenue Departments. The Tehsildars were asked to submit detailed reports for their respective tehsils without delay.

    Furthermore, the DC took strict action against negligence, directing disciplinary proceedings against officials responsible for wrong entries during Phase-I of the Agricultural Census. Necessary remarks are to be entered in their service books.

    Emphasizing transparency and accountability, the Deputy Commissioner stated that accurate agricultural data collection is vital for effective planning, policy formulation, and implementation of welfare schemes for farmers.

    The meeting was attended by ACR Rajouri, Mohd Jahangir Khan, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Sandeep Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer, and all Tehsildars of the district.

    RAJOURI AUGUST 25:– Indane Gas Agency Budhal organised an LPG Safety Awareness Camp at Rajnagar Budhal today, as part of its ongoing drive to educate the public on the safe and efficient use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The objective of the camp was to spread awareness among residents regarding LPG safety measures, proper handling, emergency response, and general precautions to prevent accidents.

    The event was held in the presence of former Sarpanch Mohammad Shabir Aflatoon, who attended as the chief guest. In his address, Mr. Aflatoon praised the efforts of Budhal Indane and underscored the importance of community education in promoting safety and preventing domestic hazards.

    Mohammad Farooq, proprietor of Budhal Indane, welcomed attendees and reiterated the agency’s commitment to customer safety and public welfare. He encouraged users to follow safety norms and remain informed about the correct usage of LPG.

    The technical session was led by Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed Lohar, who served as the resource person for the event. He conducted an interactive session that included live demonstrations on LPG safety, correct usage of cylinders and regulators, leak detection techniques, and first response measures in case of emergencies. His insights were well-received by the audience, who also participated actively in the Q&A session.

    Informational pamphlets were distributed, and villagers were urged to adopt safety practices in their households.

    The camp concluded with a vote of thanks and a commitment from Budhal Indane to continue organizing such awareness initiatives for the betterment of the local community.
