    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

SRINAGAR AUGUST 24:-The Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist People’s Front (JKNPF) has strongly condemned the recent Junior Engineer (JE) Electric examination paper leak, terming it a gross violation of examining authority’s responsibility.

The party expressed serious concern over such lapses, stating that the future of thousands of aspirants has once again been pushed into uncertainty due to negligence and lack of accountability. JKNPF has urged the authorities to immediately conduct a thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation into the matter and ensure that all culprits involved in the leak are brought to justice with exemplary punishment.

Highlighting the recurring pattern of exploitation of youth in the region, JKNPF said:

“We understand the sensitivity of examinations. Sadly, the future of our youth is once again left in darkness, just like in the past when hundreds of political workers were engaged in Jammu and Kashmir Bank through backdoor entries. The pattern may differ, but the nature of goal-less governance remains the same.”

JKNPF reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the aspirations of young people and called upon the administration to restore fairness, merit, and transparency in the recruitment process.

Inqlabi Urges Fast-Track Recruitment of 8,311 Vacant Teacher Posts to Address Severe Staff Shortages in J&K Schools

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

JAMMU AUGUST 24:- Senior PDP leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has urged the Jammu and Kashmir administration to immediately initiate fast-track recruitment for the 8,311 vacant teaching posts across the Union Territory. He expressed serious concern over the deteriorating state of education in far-flung areas where government schools are functioning without adequate staff, and in many cases, a single teacher is handling entire middle schools. Inqlabi highlighted that according to official figures, 4,325 teaching positions are vacant in the Jammu division and 3,986 in the Kashmir division.

The breakdown includes 1,665 teachers/masters, 2,218 lecturers, 402 headmasters, and 40 principals in Jammu, while Kashmir has 1,671 teachers/masters, 1,957 lecturers, 300 headmasters, and 58 principals still unappointed.

Inqlabi said this acute shortage of teaching staff severely affects the academic performance and morale of students, especially in remote regions where access to private education is limited or non-existent. Inqlabi criticized the government for ignoring repeated pleas from local communities and called for the immediate advertisement and filling of all vacant posts through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.

Inqlabi emphasized that education must be treated as a right, not a privilege, and demanded that the administration allocate necessary resources to strengthen the government school network, particularly in underdeveloped and mountainous areas.

Inqlabi concluded by urging the Lieutenant Governor-led government to place education at the top of its policy priorities, warning that any further delay could amount to a betrayal of these aspirations of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

  • Javed Ahmed Rana Reviews Flood Control Preparedness Across Jammu and Kashmir

Javed Ahmed Rana Reviews Flood Control Preparedness Across Jammu and Kashmir

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

SRINAGAR AUGUST 24:-Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, today assessed Jammu and Kashmir’s preparedness for flood control in light of the ongoing monsoon season and potential flood risks with Chief Engineers and other senior officers.

He reviewed the readiness and infrastructure to handle emergency situations, especially in flood-prone areas across the region.

The Minister directed officials to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of water levels across all major river systems, with particular focus on the Jhelum, Ravi and Tawi rivers and their tributaries.

He also visited Flood Control and Management Room Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar and stressed the importance of real-time dissemination of early warning signals to all concerned departments, agencies, and stakeholders to enable swift and coordinated responses.

Officials from the Flood Control Department informed the Minister that the department is fully equipped and operationally prepared to handle any flood-related exigency.

A comprehensive monitoring mechanism is already in place, leveraging advanced technology, integrated response systems, and field-level preparedness.

In a major development to boost flood preparedness and communication, the Minister was informed that the department—working in collaboration with the Information and Forecasting Cell (IFC)—has developed the Kashmir Flood Watch App.

This mobile application provides real-time updates on water levels in the Jhelum and its key tributaries, drawing data from a network of automatic water level recorders.

The app plays a critical role in issuing early warnings and supporting informed, timely decision-making during emergencies.

Currently, the department operates automatic water level sensors and automatic rain gauge sensors, strategically installed at vulnerable locations across the Valley.

These sensors offer continuous, accurate data, enabling authorities to closely monitor changes in water levels and rainfall patterns.

To ensure an organized and effective flood response, an extensive institutional framework has been established. This includes a Central Flood Committee, District Coordination Committees, Flood Zonal Committees, Sectors, and Beats—each assigned specific roles and responsibilities to ensure smooth coordination, resource mobilization, and on-ground execution.

On the logistics front, the Minister was informed that an ample stock of EC bags has been prepared—many of which are already filled and strategically placed for immediate use during emergencies.

This is part of a broader logistics and mitigation strategy aimed at facilitating a rapid and effective response to any breach or rising threat.

Rana commended the proactive efforts of the Flood Control Department and reiterated the Omar Abdullah Government’s strong commitment to safeguarding lives and property through timely interventions, technology-driven solutions, and public awareness initiatives.

He urged all departments and citizens to stay vigilant, cooperate with authorities, and make effective use of the digital tools and real-time updates provided by the Government.
