    Lt Gen Pratik Sharma Visits Poonch, Praises Troops for Operation Shiv Shakti

    RAJOURI AUGUST 20:-The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC) Northern Command, Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, visited Poonch district on Wednesday and complimented the troops for the successful execution of Operation Shiv Shakti.
    It is pertinent to mention that on July 30, alert troops launched Operation Shiv Shakti in the Poonch sector along the Line of Control (LoC) based on credible intelligence inputs. The security forces laid coordinated ambushes along infiltration routes, which led to a fierce gunfight with terrorists in the early morning hours. The encounter resulted in the neutralisation of two terrorists and the recovery of a large cache of war-like stores.
    During his visit, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma praised all ranks for their unyielding commitment to maintaining high operational readiness and morale under demanding circumstances. He also stressed the importance of sustained alertness and continued peace in the region.
    Earlier, on July 14, Lt Gen Sharma, accompanied by GOC White Knight Corps Lt Gen P.K. Misra and GOC 25 Infantry Division Maj Gen Kaushik Mukharjee, visited the Army’s Bhimber Gali (BG) Brigade to assess force effectiveness and the threat-response mechanisms in place to ensure complete domination of the operational space.

    RAJOURI, AUGUST 20:-Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today visited Beri Pattan to meet the family of Sushma Devi (55), wife of Sita Ram, who lost her life in the tragic flash flood incident at Chashoti in Kishtwar district.

    During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner expressed deep condolences on behalf of the district administration to the bereaved family.

    He reiterated that the district administration stands in solidarity with the affected family and will remain committed to providing necessary help.

    RAJOURI AUGUST 20:-The Indian Army’s Romeo Force has stepped forward to provide essential relief to families affected by heavy rainfall in the remote Kot Thannamandi area of Rajouri district.

    Among the beneficiaries is Guddi Begum, a widow and mother of five children, whose house was severely damaged due to continuous rains. To ensure her family’s safety, the Army provided a shelter tent, offering much-needed protection in the difficult conditions.

    Locals expressed gratitude for the Army’s swift assistance, noting that such timely support is crucial in areas where accessibility is limited and civil aid takes longer to reach.

    The Romeo Force continues to play a vital role in humanitarian assistance, extending help to vulnerable communities during natural calamities across the region.

    RAJOURI AUGUST 20:-BJP Rajouri District President, Dev Raj Sharma, met Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, and held a detailed discussion on student-related concerns and the development of the university.

    After the meeting, Dev Raj Sharma said that he raised issues of student welfare including better hostel facilities, transport connectivity, upgradation of academic resources and modern infrastructure. He stressed the need for the introduction of more skill-oriented and professional courses to enhance employment opportunities for the youth of the Pir Panjal region.

    He further said that BGSBU, being the pride of Pirpunjal, must also focus on promoting research, innovation, and extracurricular activities to ensure holistic growth of students. He underlined the importance of a safe and inclusive campus environment, particularly for girl students.

    Sharma appreciated the commitment of Vice Chancellor Prof. Jawaid Iqbal towards strengthening the academic profile of the university and assured that he would extend all possible cooperation in resolving issues which require government attention.

    “The meeting was very constructive and I am confident that with joint efforts, BGSBU will continue to emerge as a centre of excellence in higher education and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our young generation,” Sharma said.
