RAJOURI, JUNE 29:-In light of the reported cases of gastroenteritis in Dhar Sakri village of Kotranka sub-division, the District Administration Rajouri, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, has undertaken swift and effective measures to safeguard public health and prevent further spread of the illness.

Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, is continuously receiving updates from the District Administration and personally monitoring the steps being taken to address the situation.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, visited Dhar Sakri yesterday and is keeping a close watch on the response measures being implemented in the affected area.

Following the initial reports, a team comprising the AEE, JE and water testing laboratory staff was deputed to the site. Water samples were collected from four natural springs (bowlis) and one tap connection. Upon testing, E. coli contamination was found in two springs, while the tap water was declared safe for consumption.

As a precautionary measure, the District Administration, in coordination with the Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, has issued a public health advisory urging residents to avoid using untreated spring water and to consume only safe, treated water.

Though the PHE Department does not supply water from these bowlis, it has taken proactive steps as a matter of social responsibility by thoroughly cleaning and chlorinating the contaminated bowlis with bleaching powder. Additionally, all contaminated springs have been sealed to prevent public access.

Residents have been sensitized and made aware of the health risks associated with unsafe water sources. An alternate safe water supply has been ensured for the affected population.

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, a medical team was deputed by the Chief Medical Officer, which has established a temporary health centre at HS Sakri to provide immediate medical checkups and treatment to the affected people.

Additionally, in a district-wide sanitation effort, all Ground Service Reservoirs (GSRs) have been cleaned and disinfected by officials of the Jal Shakti Department, ensuring the safety of the drinking water supply across Rajouri.

Further, rural sanitation teams have been constituted and grassroots level officials from the Health Department, Jal Shakti Department and Rural Sanitation Wing have been deputed to the affected and adjoining areas to intensify awareness, surveillance and sanitation measures.

The District Administration continues to monitor the situation closely and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.

Negligence OR Murder? Innocent Child Dies In Poonch Hospital–Justice Cannot Wait ; Farooq Inqlabi Demands Immediate Action, Accountability, and Systemic Reform

    GNS ONLINE NEWS PORTAL

POONCH JUNE 29:-Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has issued a strong statement condemning the tragic and deeply disturbing incident at Poonch Hospital, where an innocent child lost his life due to what he described as “criminal medical negligence.”

According to reports, the child was mistakenly cut during a surgical procedure and later fell from the operating table while under anesthesia. Terming the incident as a “shameful collapse of medical responsibility,” Inqlabi held the hospital authorities and concerned doctors directly accountable for the horrifying mishap.

“This is not just a case of carelessness — it is a matter of life and death. The system has failed, and someone must be held responsible,” Inqlabi said in his statement. He further demanded as:

Immediate suspension and arrest of the medical staff involved.

A high-level judicial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Full compensation and an official apology to the grieving family.

Urgent reforms in hospital accountability and patient safety protocols.

The PDP leader strongly criticized the silence of the administration and urged the Lieutenant Governor and the Health Department to intervene without delay. “Our healthcare institutions must be places of healing, not of fear and tragedy. The people of Poonch—and of Jammu and Kashmir—deserve better,” he added.

Inqlabi also expressed solidarity with the victim’s family and lauded the role of the media in bringing the truth to light. He affirmed that the PDP will continue to raise its voice until justice is delivered.
