RAJOURI, JUNE 20:– Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma chaired a meeting today in the VV Room of the DC Office to review the preparedness for the celebration of International Yoga Day in the district.

The DC took a detailed review of arrangements being made at key venues in the subdivisions of Thanamandi, Rajouri, Kotranka, Nowshera, and Sunderbani. The focus of the meeting was to ensure that all necessary measures are in place for the smooth conduct of the yoga events, which will witness participation from people across different walks of life.

Key aspects discussed during the meeting included security deployment at the venues, photography and videography of the event, availability of drinking water, fire and emergency services, deployment of ambulances, provision of ORS and refreshments for participants, and post-event cleanliness.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the celebrations should reflect the spirit and significance of International Yoga Day. He directed the officers to ensure the installation of hoardings and banners at prominent locations to raise awareness and encourage participation.

He also stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination to make the event a grand success. He instructed officers of stakeholder departments to be present at the designated venues to oversee arrangements.

RAJOURI JUNE 20:-In a continued effort to combat drug menace in District Rajouri, Police achieved a significant breakthrough by apprehending two drug peddlers in separate incidents in *Thanamandi and Rajouri Town* recovering contraband substances including heroin like substance, tapentadol tablets and tramadol injections.

CASE 1:–During a Naka checking at Upper Thanamandi Bridge a police party from Police Station Thanamandi led by SHO Thanamandi apprehended one individual who was moving suspiciously. On searching the individual identified as Javaid Iqbal S/O Mohd Taj resident of Khablan Thanamandi the police party recovered 10.27 grams of a heroin-like narcotic substance from his possession.

In this regard a case FIR No. 84/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Thanamandi and investigation is ongoing.

Case 2 :–In a separate incident a police party from Police Station Rajouri led by SHO Rajouri was on routine patrolling in the Jawahar Nagar area when they noticed a person trying to evade the patrolling team. The person was promptly apprehended. During questioning he identified himself as *Mohd Irfan S/O Hussain Mohd resident of Badhoon Bindi Rajouri.*

During personal search of individual led to the recovery of a black polythene bag containing a total 230 tablets of Tapentadol and 04 Tramadol injections.

In this regard a case FIR No. 321/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the drug

RAJOURI JUNE 20:-In a significant action to curb drug trafficking Police Station Nowshera under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera and SHO Police Station Nowshera have attached property worth ₹8.57 lakh belonging to a known drug peddler in Nowshera.

The attached assets include a pakka single-storey residential house and a motorcycle bearing registration number JK11G5056. The property is owned by *Sajan Kumar@Vicky S/O Om Parkash resident of Sair Galla Tehsil Nowshera Rajouri.*

The attachment proceedings were carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate First Class concerned and were executed under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The case pertains to FIR No. 178/2024 registered at Police Station Nowshera under Sections 8, 21, 22, 27-A and 29 of the NDPS Act along with Sections 111 and 238 BNS.

This proactive measure demonstrates the firm commitment of Rajouri Police to dismantle the drug network by not only arresting offenders but also targeting their illegally acquired assets.

The local community has appreciated this initiative and extended their support to the police’s relentless efforts to make the Rajouri drug-free.
