Water Crisisin Mendhar: Resident of Narol Mohalla Mughlan Protest Against  Jal Shakti Department

MENDHAR MAY 26:-A scene of anger, desperation, and determination unfolded today as the residents of Narol Mohalla, Mughlan, staged a strong and emotional protest against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, expressing their outrage over four continuous days without water.

Carrying empty utensils, buckets, and water carriers, men, women, and children gathered to make a bold statement “We are humans too, and we demand our rights!” The community, left helpless without a basic necessity like water, accused the administration of gross negligence and apathy.

Prominent social and political activist Tanveer Iqbal Qureshi, known for being a fearless voice of the underprivileged, led the protest and addressed the media with deep concern and anger.

“Why is the administration silent? Why this criminal silence? Are the people of Narol Mohalla not citizens of India?” asked Qureshi. “Is it a crime to demand water – the very essence of life? The administration is bound constitutionally and morally to ensure water supply to every citizen, but their silence speaks volumes about their priorities.”

Qureshi further challenged the authorities on the irregularities surrounding water tanker services:

“If the administration claims they have sent water tankers, let them show the receipt. If there’s any record of a tanker being sent to Narol Mohalla, I challenge them to make it public. If they can’t, I will personally ensure a receipt is issued when a tanker actually arrives. Let’s stop fooling the public with lies and lip service.”

Residents, visibly frustrated, said that repeated appeals to the concerned officials have gone unheard. Basic daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and drinking have become near impossible, especially affecting children, the elderly, and the sick.

One protestor asked emotionally, “Are we second-class citizens? Why is our suffering invisible to those in power?”

Tanveer Iqbal Qureshi issued a strong warning to the administration:

“If our demands are not met within the next 24 hours, we will intensify the protest. Today we stood in our lanes, tomorrow we will be on the roads. We will knock on the gates of Tehsil and District authorities. The people of Narol Mohalla refuse to be ignored any longer.”

The protest remained peaceful but left an unshakable message — the thirst of the people is real, and their patience is wearing thin.

The residents of Narol Mohalla urge the district administration, PHE Department, and concerned officials to act immediately. Restore the water supply, send water tankers with proper accountability, and ensure this crisis does not repeat.
