    4-Year-Old Tourist Girl Dies After Being Hit by Unknown Vehicle in Pahalgam

    SRINAGAR APRIL 14:-A 4-year-old tourist girl died after being hit by an unknown vehicle near the Selfie Point in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

    The girl, identified as Halma Hasina, daughter of Hashim Quraishi from Mulganj, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), was seriously injured in the accident.

    She was first taken to a hospital in Pahalgam and later referred to GMC Anantnag. However, doctors at GMC declared her brought dead.

    Police have taken note of the incident and started an investigation.

    RAJOURI, APRIL 14:- Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad Larvi today chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting here at Dak Bungalow to review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and development works in the district.

    Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma briefed the MP about the status of the ongoing developmental initiatives across different sectors.

    The MP took a comprehensive review of centrally sponsored schemes including MGNREGA, PMAY (Gramin & Urban), Tribal Welfare Schemes, Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) and the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). He also reviewed the implementation of the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).

    Evaluating performance under the health sector, the MP took a detailed review of the functioning of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri. The MP emphasized the need to improve patient care facilities and directed the Principal GMC to ensure the early functioning of the Child and Maternal Hospital. He also asked for timely estimation and construction of a Sarai in the hospital.

    Expressing concern over the shortage of medical staff, he directed the concerned authorities to expedite the process of filling vacant posts of doctors across the district.

    Mian Altaf also took stock of the progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He directed the concerned officers to ensure that machinery for all lift water schemes is installed by December 2025 and instructed for the early commissioning of the filtration plants.

    While reviewing the Power Development Department (PDD), he called for necessary improvements to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the region.

    The MP also issued strict directions to the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to expedite work on the Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote road and on the Jammu–Poonch National Highway. He further directed the PWD to ensure proper maintenance of all roads across the district.

    He also assessed the status of pension schemes for old-age beneficiaries, widows, and beneficiaries under the State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), and stressed on timely disbursal of benefits to the eligible persons.

    The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson Advocate Naseem Liaquat; MLA Rajouri Iftikhar Ahmed; MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary; MLA Kalakote, Thakur Randhir Singh and MLA Thanamandi Muzaffar Khan.

    Among the senior officers present were ADDC Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, ADC Kalakote Tanveer Ahmed, ADC Kotranka Dil Mir, ADC Sunderbani Ramkesh Sharma, ADC Rajouri Chander Parkash, ACR Mohd Jahangir Khan, SDM Thanamandi Abid Hussain, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, ACP Sheraz Ahmed and other sectoral officers.

    The MP appreciated the efforts of the district administration and urged all departments to work in coordination to ensure effective implementation of development schemes and welfare programs for the benefit of the people of Rajouri.

    RAJOURI APRIL 14:-MLA Rajouri Iftkhar Ahmed today flagged off a rally from Jawahar Nagar to Ambedkar Park, Salani, to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The rally was organized to honor Ambedkar’s legacy and promote his ideals of social justice, equality, and unity.

    While addressing the media, Iftkhar Ahmed said, “Dr. Ambedkar’s message of equality, justice, and brotherhood is timeless and continues to inspire people across the nation. It is our responsibility to carry forward his vision for an inclusive society.”

    The rally saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, youth groups, and social organizations.
