    J&K PDD workers protest in Pampore following tragic death of colleague

    SRINAGAR APRIL 10:– (KS): Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department workers on Thursday held a peaceful protest in Pampore, mourning the tragic death of their colleague.

    Mohammad Yousuf Dar, a resident of Goripora Barsoo, a Permanent daily wager employee sustained serious injuries on April 5 after falling from an electric pole while repairing a Power line in the Frestabal area of Pampore.

    He was initially treated at sub district hospital Pampore and later shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment. Despite doctors efforts he succumbed to his injuries on April
    9 this year.

    As per the news agency Kashmir Scroll, the protesting workers gathered at the Sub-Division Office Pampore, demanded adequate compensation for the deceased lineman’s family and called for the regularization of daily-wager employees to ensure better job security and safety protocols.

    Additionally, the protesters urged the government to provide a job to a family member of the deceased.

    The PDD workers said that if their demands are not addressed, they may escalate the protest in the coming days.—(KS)

    The trekking event was organized by the Chief Executive Officer Rajouri Development Authority Mohammad Fareed Kohli and witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials and nature enthusiasts alike. The route charted out for the expedition took the trekkers from the serene Chenani Bagla to the culturally rich village of Mankote and the revered Shiv Cave, culminating at the picturesque Thandikassi Park.

    According to officials from the District Police Office Rajouri, the following vehicles were apprehended during the operation: JK11F-2220, driven by Mohit Sharma, resident of Saranoo, JK11D-4713, driven by Mohd Fareed, resident of Potha and JK11G-7435, driven by Tariq Hussain, resident of Dharhali Bridge, Rajouri

    The drivers were found transporting minerals without the requisite permits. Authorities have initiated strict legal action under relevant sections of law.

    The Rajouri Police have reiterated their commitment to taking firm action against those involved in illegal mining and urged the public to report any such activities to ensure the protection of the region’s natural resources.

    POONCH, APRIL 10:-District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal today conducted an on-site inspection of the snow clearance operations along the historical Mughal Road, assessing the progress made up to Pir ki Gali.

    During this crucial visit, DDC Kundal met with Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shishir Gupta to discuss the feasibility of reopening this vital link that connects the Pir Panjal region with the Kashmir Valley. The reopening is essential for local communities, facilitating access and promoting economic activity.

    Accompanied by SSP Poonch, SDM Surankote, and officers from BRO, Traffic Police, DC Kundal and his team traveled approximately 43.6 kilometers along the Mughal Road from the Poonch side. He emphasized the urgency of expediting snow clearance efforts to restore access following fresh snowfall today.

    Highlighting the historical significance of the road, DC Kundal directed the executing agency to ensure that the road is made traffic-worthy at the earliest. He also stressed the importance of maintaining safety protocols on slippery and sliding spots prior to the opening of traffic.

    “We understand the importance of this road for the residents and businesses in the region,” said DC Kundal. “We are committed to ensuring that the snow clearance operations are completed promptly to facilitate safe travel.”
