    RAJOURI MAR 13:-Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, chaired a high-level meeting with Deans, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and Directors to deliberate on key academic and administrative matters aimed at enhancing the university’s overall performance.

    The meeting focused on strengthening academic quality, implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fostering research and innovation, and improving student welfare initiatives. Prof. Iqbal emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to create a dynamic learning environment, urging faculty members to prioritize student-centric policies.

    Key discussions included curriculum development, infrastructure enhancement, faculty training programs, and industry-academia collaboration. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated BGSBU’s commitment to academic excellence and encouraged departments to take proactive measures in advancing interdisciplinary research and skill-based education. He assured full support in addressing challenges and implementing progressive reforms.

    A significant agenda item was the preparation for the upcoming Academic Council meeting, with departments directed to submit agenda items related to academic reforms and curriculum enhancements in a timely manner.

    Prof. M. J. Warsi, Dean Academic Affairs, provided key insights on academic planning, curriculum reforms, and the effective execution of NEP 2020.

    The meeting was attended by the Controller of Examinations, Associate Deans, Heads of Departments, In-charge Directors, and Coordinators of various departments.

    ‘Treasuries not running dry, aII financial liabilities being regularly discharged, bills for capital works of Rs 6184 Crore paid to Contractors’

    JAMMU MAR 13(KNO):- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the portfolio of the Finance Ministry, has firmly denied any accrual of significant financial liabilities due to poor financial planning. This statement comes in response to growing reports of financial strain, with claims that the state’s treasuries were running dry, leaving employees and the general public in distress.

    According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in a detailed reply to a starred question posed by Mr. Mir Mohammad Fayaz, the government refuted allegations of financial mismanagement. The Chief Minister claimed in his reply that all financial liabilities are being regularly discharged, and there is no substantial delay in payments. The government disclosed that during the fiscal year 2024-25, ₹5,280 crore has been allocated for General Provident Fund (GPF) payments, ₹1,041 crore for gratuity, ₹953 crore for commutation, and ₹278 crore for leave salary. The treasury-wise details of pending bills, specifically related to GPF pensioner benefits, were also provided to the legislator.

    However, as per the government estimates, the number of employees subscribing to GPF has seen a slight decline, with 2,09,459 employees in 2022-23 contributing ₹3,929.24 crore, and 2,02,904 employees in 2023-24 contributing ₹4,090.77 crore. The government clarified that GPF subscriptions are received as contra credits, which are essentially book adjustments. Payments are being cleared regularly based on the availability of resources.

    The government also addressed concerns regarding delays in payments to contractors for executed works. It stated that priority is given to clearing bills for capital works to boost infrastructure development. During 2024-25, ₹6,184 crore has been paid to contractors, and all bills up to January 7, 2025, have been cleared.

    Pertinently, according to the Economic Survey Report (ESR) 2024-25 tabled in the House on Thursday, the outstanding debt of Rs 1,25,205 crore represents 52 per cent of J&K’s GSDP of Rs 2,38,677 crore. The public debt of Rs 83,010 crore constitutes 66 per cent of the total on-budget outstanding debt in FY 2024, including internal debt of Rs 82,300 crore and Rs 710 crore in advances from Government of India—(KNO)

    NEW DELHI MAR 13:-Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition in Jammu & Kashmir called upon Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Delhi.

    Sunil Sharma deliberated with the Union Home Minister on the key issues of Jammu & Kashmir pertaining to the Security and Development, and Budget Session in J&K Legislative Assembly.
    Sunil Sharma said that Jammu & Kashmir has been a region of strategic significance, and has faced numerous security and developmental challenges. He said that all these issues are deeply intertwined and require a rigorous multi-pronged approach by the Modi government.

    He also discussed the issue of recent terror incidents in the region with the Union Home Minister. He requested HM Amit Shah for further increase in the road connectivity to the remote areas of region. He brought into notice various factors to facilitate the sustaining economic ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir by putting stress on the key areas like tourism, industry, and business.

    He also highlighted the rise in drug abuse and narcotics trafficking in J&K, emphasizing the need for urgent intervention.

    Sunil Sharma also deliberated with the Union Home Minister on the Budget session in J&K Legislative Assembly discussing the minute details of the Budget. He highlighted the key points of discussions in the sessions and the impact of the Budget on the socio-economic conditions of the residents and the ongoing development process in J&K.

    After listening patiently to Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured Sunil Sharma that the peace and progress in Jammu & Kashmir will remain top priority of Modi government and every step will be taken to ensure the socio-economic elevation of its residents.

    RAJOURI MAR 13:-In connection with the investigation of Case FIR No. 24/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kandi a search was conducted at *M/S Dar Pharmacy a medical shop located near Abdullah Bridge Gujjar Mandi Rajouri*. The shop owned by the arrested accused Ajaz Ahmed was searched under the authority of a warrant obtained from the Hon’ble Court.

    During the search which was conducted with the assistance of the Drug Control Officer Rajouri the shop was found to be in violation of relevant laws. Medical Shop has been sealed under Section 22(d) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

    Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
