RAJOURI MAR 10:-Temporary employees of the Jal Shakti Department staged a strong protest at the division office in Rajouri, demanding regularization of their jobs and timely payment of salaries. The protesters warned that if their demands were not met by March 20, they would halt the drinking water supply across the region, holding the Omar Abdullah-led government responsible for any consequences.

Romi Verma, Sushil Vaid, Muhammad Farooq, and other protesting employees expressed their frustration, stating that despite working for years—often exceeding the workload of permanent employees—their status remained unchanged. They emphasized that they ensure water supply round the clock and respond to departmental calls immediately, yet they neither receive their salaries on time nor have their wages been increased.

“We demand regularization of our services. If the government does not take a decision by March 20, we will escalate our protest, shut down all pumping stations, and continue our strike until our demands are fulfilled,” the protesters warned.

Accusing the administration of step-motherly treatment, the employees asserted that their patience had run out. They vowed to intensify their agitation if their long-standing grievances were ignored any further.
