    JAMMU FEB 25:-Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, has announced a comprehensive security plan aimed at ensuring a safe and peaceful celebration across the region. The Jammu & Kashmir Police have implemented extensive measures to safeguard devotees during the auspicious festival.

    DIG Sharma, in a press briefing, highlighted the paramount importance of maintaining law and order during the festivities. He assured the public that the J&K Police are committed to preventing any disruptions and ensuring a secure environment for all. The security arrangements include increased patrolling, deployment of additional forces, and coordination with other security agencies.

    “Our priority is to ensure that devotees can celebrate Maha Shivratri with peace and devotion,” stated DIG Sharma. “We have taken all necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incidents.”

    The DIG appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police and adhere to all security guidelines. He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station.

    “The J&K Police is always at your service, with you, for you, always. We encourage the public to provide timely information about any suspicious activity. Your cooperation is crucial in maintaining a secure environment,” DIG Sharma emphasized.

    Prof. Mir, an eminent academician and expert in Agricultural Statistics, brings a wealth of experience to this esteemed position. His scholarly work is well-recognized, with numerous research publications and contributions in the field of agriculture.

    RAJOURI FEB 25:-Range Police Headquarters Rajouri successfully concluded a Volleyball Tournament at District Police Lines Rajouri, organized under the banner of the Civic Action Programme 2024-25. The tournament which commenced on 18th February 2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from teams representing District Rajouri and Poonch aiming to promote sportsmanship and strengthen the bond between the police and the public.

    The final match played on 25th February 2025 was a thrilling contest between Choudhary Club Rajouri and Shaheed Manjeet Singh Club Poonch where Shaheed Manjeet Singh Club Poonch emerged victorious.

    Following the final match, IPS Tejinder Singh DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Headquarters Rajouri along with IAS Abhishek Sharma Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and IPS Gaurav Sikarwar, SSP Rajouri graced the occasion. They lauded the players for their dedication, perseverance, and exemplary sportsmanship. The officers emphasized the role of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among youth.

    RAJOURI, FEB 25:- In a significant step towards promoting water conservation and sustainable resource management, District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Advocate Choudhary Naseem Liaqat alongside Member Legislative Assembly Iftekhar Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abhishek Sharma today launched the Watershed Yatra in the district.

    The Watershed Yatra is a nationwide outreach initiative aimed at fostering Janbhagidari (people’s participation) and raising awareness about watershed development activities. The event commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a water conservation pledge taken by all participants, including students, civil society members and community leaders.

    As part of the initiative, a mega event was organized at Block Doongi, presided over by DDC Chairman Advocate Choudhary Naseem Liaqat. Addressing the gathering, resource persons from the Rural Development Department highlighted the critical role of community participation in the success of watershed programs. They emphasized that such initiatives are pivotal in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, improving agricultural resilience, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of water resources.

    The DDC Chairman highlighted the significance of watershed management in enhancing rural livelihoods and ensuring long-term water sustainability. He urged communities to adopt sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting and efficient irrigation systems to mitigate the impacts of climate change.

    Speaking on the occasion, MLA Rajouri Iftekhar Ahmed underscored the urgent need to conserve water for future generations. Expressing concern over climate change, he stated that the government is taking proactive measures and urged the public to support these efforts by adopting water conservation practices.

    The DC emphasized the importance of integrating watershed development activities with broader developmental schemes to maximize impact. He stated, “Convergence of IWMP with schemes like HADP and MGNREGA is crucial to ensure efficient use of resources and the overall development of rural areas. The administration is committed to delivering long-term benefits to the people through such integrated approaches.”

    ADDC Dr Raj Kumar Thapa elaborated on the objectives of the Integrated Watershed Management Program (IWMP), encouraging students to act as ambassadors of water conservation in society.

    PO IWMP Sheraz Chowhan informed that the Watershed Yatra will traverse numerous locations across the district, creating platforms for interaction between farmers, experts, and local authorities to discuss challenges and solutions related to water management and sustainable farming. He reiterated that the campaign is designed to educate and engage communities on the significance of watershed management in sustainable agriculture, water conservation, and ecosystem preservation.

    Certificates of appreciation were awarded to students who delivered inspiring speeches on water conservation and to community members demonstrating exceptional dedication to water management efforts.

    RAJOURI, FEB 25:-Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today chaired a review meeting regarding functioning of various departments at Sunderbani.

    The meeting focused on addressing the issues and grievances of the general public relating different departments.

    The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to resolve the public grievances on priority basis, ensuring swift and effective solutions to the concerns of the local residents.

    During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister also had a comprehensive review of the progress on various schemes of different departments. He emphasised the importance of raising public awareness about various government schemes and programs. He instructed the District Social Welfare Officer and Assistant Labour Commissioner to organise special camps in the district, particularly in Nowshera and Sunderbani, to educate the public about their initiatives and ensure maximum coverage.

    The meeting was attended by ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandan; ADC Sunderbani, Rajeev Magotra; SE PWD(R&B), Devi Dayal; ACD, Vijay Kumar; DSWO, Abdul Raheem; DMO, Mohd Sayeed; ALC, Pradyot Gupta and other officers.

    RAJOURI, FEB 25:– District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the Mahashivratri festival scheduled to be held at the revered holy Shiv Khori Shrine in Ransoo.

    The DC took a thorough review of the arrangements to facilitate the devotees arriving at Ransoo on the auspicious occasion.

    The District Administration has made special transportation arrangements to assist pilgrims traveling from Shiv Khori to Kalakote and adjoining areas. The initiative aims to provide seamless travel facility to devotees returning after offering prayers at the holy shrine.

    To enhance awareness and guidance, the Additional Director Tourism was directed to install flex hoardings at key locations, ensuring better information dissemination regarding routes, facilities and important instructions for visitors.

    Additionally, the Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) have been assigned the task of coordinating and facilitating the transit arrangements to ensure hassle-free movement of pilgrims.

    The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tourism has also been instructed to make necessary provisions for accommodating tourists who wish to explore Rajouri after participating in the Mahashivratri celebrations. Special assistance will be provided to visitors to promote tourism in the region.

    The District Administration is committed to ensuring a well-organized and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees and will continue to monitor the arrangements throughout the event.

    RAJOURI FEB 24:-Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Dr Manohar Rana has ordered an inquiry following the tragic death of a 15-year-old girl after receiving an injection at a chemist shop in the vicinity of Associated Hospital GMC Rajouri.
    CMO has also ordered to cease the premises of Elite Dental Clinic, to examine all the relevant records, including patient history, treatment provided, and the role of medical personnel involved.
    He also asked the inquiry committee to verify the registration of clinic, medical and legal protocols governing private clinics and pharmacies.
    CMO directed to record statements of concerned individuals, including clinic staff, pharmacy personnel and any witnesses.
    Inquiry committee is directed to assess whether there was any negligence or protocol lapse leading to the incident.
    CMO directed the inquiry committee to submit a report within 24 hours for further necessary action.
    The inquiry committee is headed by Dr Ghulam Qadir (Dental Surgeon-SHP CMO Office) and members include Dr. Jhan Ara (MO (LCU)-CMO Office); Dr Nazmeen Akhter (MO CMO Office), Dr. Archna (Dental Surgeon); and Mohd Ayaz (Sr Asstt CMO Office).
    CMO’s order read: “In view of the reported death of a teenage gir at Elite Dental Clinic, Kheora, near GMC&AH Rajouri, and adjoining drug shop M/S Peer Panjal Chemist, it is hereby ordered that a detailed enquiry be conducted to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to unfortunate incident”.
    Meanwhile, following the tragic death of Ishrat Naz (15) r/o Malhoti-Darhal after receiving an injection at a chemist shop near GMC Hospital, the family members & locals staged a protest, blocking the road and demanding syrict action against dental surgeon and chemist shop employees.
    The police in a swift action have sealed the chemist shop and detained it’s owner Tousif Shah for further investigation.
