RAJOURI FEB 23:-An elderly woman passed away during treatment at the government Community Health Center in Thanamandi, Rajouri, on Sunday night around 9:30 PM, leading to a massive protest by her family members.
According to reports, 70-year-old Farzand Begum, wife of Mohammad Iqbal and a resident of Darra village in Thanamandi, was brought to the hospital around 8:30 PM on Sunday after experiencing chest pain.
Despite receiving treatment for nearly an hour, she passed away in the hospital.
Following her death, the family placed her body in front of the hospital and staged a strong protest.
They alleged that when she was admitted, the doctor advised an ECG test, but there was no staff available to conduct it.
After nearly an hour, an ECG technician arrived, but by then, the woman had already passed away.
The family further claimed that “Most of the hospital staff are locals who leave their duties early without any supervision, making it difficult for patients to receive proper medical attention. This negligence has caused significant hardships for the people in the area,” protesters said.
As of the time of reporting, the protest was still ongoing.
Notably, only in the morning Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa visited the CHC Thanamandi to take stock of Health care facilities.
