SRINAGAR FEB 21:-A Srinagar court has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar to arrest Jitender Narayan Singh Tyagi, formerly known as Waseem Rizvi, and produce him before the court by April 25, 2025.

This order comes in response to a criminal complaint filed in 2021 alleging that Tyagi made derogatory remarks against Islam and the Quran.

Advocate Aamir Masoodi, representing the complainant, informed the court that Tyagi has repeatedly failed to appear despite numerous opportunities.

Masoodi, along with associate lawyer Afreen Sarwar, urged the court to enforce the law and ensure Tyagi’s presence. They argued that the accused needs to be “dealt with the iron hands of law.”

The court has now mandated the SSP Srinagar to form a police team and apprehend Tyagi, outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The complaint, initially filed under Section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C) before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Srinagar, accuses Tyagi of violating several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief).

The complainant, a local resident of Srinagar, alleges that Tyagi, after converting to Hinduism on December 6, 2021, made statements claiming that Islam is not a religion but a terrorist organization and referred to the Quran as “false and frivolous literature.” These statements, the complaint argues, were widely reported by national news outlets, including Aaj Tak, Zee News, The Print, and Times of India, and have caused harm to the Muslim community and disturbed peace and harmony.

The complainant has invoked the court’s jurisdiction to protect his fundamental rights and cited several Supreme Court judgments emphasizing secularism as a basic structure of the Constitution. The court has been requested to take cognizance of the matter and direct the police to investigate the allegations.

**Contractor hails from Rajouri; PPCA demands stringent action against culprits

RAJOURI FEB 20:-Amid a recent increase in crime incidents in Jammu, the Pir Panjal Contractors Association (PPCA), Rajouri, has expressed strong resentment over a murderous attack on Rajouri-based contractor Amir Farooq Lone in the crowded Bhatindi area of Jammu city.

Amir Lone, Managing Director of A.L Construction and a resident of Rajouri town, was brutally attacked in front of his office near Makkah Masjid, allegedly by dozens of goons wielding swords, iron rods, and sharp-edged weapons. He was left critically wounded in full public view.

“Such an act of goons in broad daylight in the highly populated Bhatindi area of Jammu city is a matter of grave concern,” said PPCA.

PPCA further alleged that the repeated crime incidents in Jammu and adjoining areas over the last few months have revived decade-old memories of gang wars between groups such as Binny, Riaz Kabootarbaz, Makhoo Raju Pehalwan etc.

The Pirpunjal Contractors Association has appealed to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and DGP JKUT to take serious note of the rising crime incidents and constitute a special team of police officers to handle, with an iron fist, the growing ‘goon culture’ in Jammu and prevent such crimes in the future.

PPCA has also requested the concerned police officers to immediately arrest all culprits involved in the attack on Amir Farooq Lone.
