RAJOURI JAN 23:-Rajouri town on Thursday witnessed several hectic activities, including heated exchange between MLA Budhal and Principal GMC hospital Jammu over alleged delay in shifting of three critically ill sisters of Badhal to PGIMER Chandigarh, one more minor girl from Badhal admitted in GMC Rajouri, and relocating of high-risk contacts, close relatives of 17 victims to observation center at Nursing College Rajouri from Badhal.

In a press conference at Rajouri MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal Choudhary expressed his resentment & anguish over ‘dual power system’ (LG Administration & UT Government) in taking prompt decision for shifting three girls to PGI Chandigarh either by road or by air ambulance.

He criticised Principal & management of GMC Hospital Jammu for their non-cooperative attitude in handling critical patients from Badhal.

Pertinently, three sisters were referred to PGI from GMC Rajouri and were airlifted to Jammu in the evening on Wednesday for further airlifting to Chandigarh.
But due to mismanagement at GMC Hospital Jammu, and bureaucratic apathy critical sisters couldn’t be sent to Chandigarh and, according to MLA, are in critical condition in Jammu hospital.
“One Aijaz Ahmed from Badhal who was shifted to PGI is now stable but those under treatment in GMC Jammu are serious,” said MLA Javed Iqbal.
He demanded an air ambulance to be stationed at Rajouri so that the critical patients may be shifted to Chandigarh in emergency.

MLA Javed Iqbal claimed that in his presence Principal GMC Rajouri coordinated with PGI Chandigarh for shifting of three sisters, but GMC Jammu administration failed to act promptly.

MLA warned GMC Jammu administration for dire consequences if any wrong had happened to these girls.
He also resented the lack of coordination between Central & UT authorities in taking quick action even during this grave situation when the lives of innocent people are at stake.
While defending MLA’s allegations, Dr Ashtosh Gupta, Principal GMC Jammu said at about 6.30 pm (on Wednesday) intimation received from GMC Rajouri for shifting of three children to GMC Jammu & immediately critical care ambulance was sent to technical airport for shifting them to Chandigarh by road.
“However, despite repeated requests, the PGIMER conveyed their inability to accept the patients due to non-availability of beds,” said Principal.
The condition of one girl deteriorated & she was put on a ventilator by the senior consultants & necessary intervention were started.

Principal added that doctors are in regular/constant touch with their counterparts at PGIMER & sharing medical updates. The doctors are regularly updated on the patient management by the experts from ICMR & NCDC. From Delhi.

Principal GMC Jammu appreciated the efforts of MLA Budhal Javed Iqbal for arranging extra-ordinary mid-night shifting of high-risk patients to Jammu & for standing with people of Badhal in this hour of need.

More than 150 family members of Badhal victims, their close relatives and high-risk contacts have been shifted to Rajouri for observation and immediate treatment.
