RAJOURI,DEC 18: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today interacted with a delegation of the Beopar Mandal Rajouri to address various issues concerning the development and functioning of Rajouri town.

The meeting, held at the DC office, provided a platform to the traders to share their concerns and suggestions for improving the civic and business environment in the town.

The delegation, led by President, Rajesh Gupta (Bittu Shah) & senior members of the Beopar Mandal, raised several key issues. The demanded including adequate Power supply, creation of parking spaces and other matters of public importance.

The issue of License Registration of shops with Municipal Council was also discussed in the meeting .

DC Abhishek Sharma gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured prompt action on the issues raised.

Responding to the demands, he said the issues related to power and water supply would be taken up with the Power Development Department (PDD) and Jal Shakti Departments for a prompt action.

The DC further informed that the administration is working on proposals to develop additional parking spaces in key locations within the town. He also emphasized the importance of balancing commercial activities with urban planning to ease traffic congestion.

Regarding the registration of shops, he said the administration would review the process to ensure fairness and transparency. He said awareness sessions for shopkeepers will be held about the registration requirements.

RAJOURI DEC 18:-For the past three days, the remote area of Darhal in the district has been grappling with a complete disruption of electricity supply, leaving shopkeepers and residents in distress. The prolonged outage has caused significant inconvenience, sparking widespread anger against the electricity department and local administration.

Frustrated by the lack of action, the residents and shopkeepers have warned of escalating protests if the power supply is not restored immediately. Members of the Vyapar Mandal Darhal, including Naushad Malik, Sajjad Malik, and Zafar Malik, have been vocal in their criticism.

“Children’s education is suffering, businesses are paralyzed, and daily life has come to a standstill. Despite repeated complaints, neither the electricity department nor the administration has taken steps to address this crisis,” said Naushad Malik, the group’s president.

He further warned, “If the situation is not resolved, we are prepared to stage a strong protest starting Thursday, which will include shutting down shops.”

When approached for a comment, Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department, Mushtaq Ahmed, acknowledged the issue, attributing the outage to a technical fault. “Our teams are working to resolve the problem, and we are hopeful that the supply will be restored soon,” he assured.

As the residents wait for a resolution, the situation continues to test their patience and resilience. With protests looming, all eyes are now on the authorities to act swiftly and prevent further escalation..

DC visits Kotranka to assess ground situation

RAJOURI,DEC 18: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today visited Kotranka to assess the ground situation in Badhaal village, where seven people, including six children below 14 year age lost their lives due to an unknown illness.

In response to the incident, a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Mobile Laboratory has been dispatched to Rajouri. Additionally, a central team of experts has been constituted to assist the Union Territory administration in investigating the cases and deaths in the village.

The central team consists of Dr. Raghavendra A Honnakamble, Assistant Director, NCDC, Dr. Kapil Goel, A.P, Epidemiology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Professor (Pediatrics), PGIMER, Chandigarh and An expert from ICMR (to be nominated by the institute).

The BSL-3 Mobile Laboratory is equipped to handle outbreaks of highly infectious pathogens. It plays a crucial role in early detection, rapid investigation, and the timely containment of diseases, ensuring the safety of the population during such health emergencies.

During his visit, DC Abhishek Sharma interacted with the team of experts, providing them with the necessary assistance and resources to ensure they could work comfortably and efficiently. He assured the team of full administrative support to facilitate their investigation and help identify the cause of the unknown illness.

*“The administration is committed to ensuring a thorough investigation and providing immediate medical aid to prevent further loss of lives,” he said.*

The Deputy Commissioner directed health officials to intensify surveillance in the affected area and adjoining villages while providing regular updates to the district administration and central team.

RAJOURI,DEC 18:Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the “Sushasan Saptah – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” campaign, scheduled to be observed across the district from December 19 to December 24 as part of the Good Governance Week celebrations.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the activities carried out during the preparatory phase from December 11 to December 18. He stressed the need to create widespread awareness about the campaign, ensuring people are informed about the time and venue of events to facilitate effective grievance redressal.

*“Good Governance is the prime concern of the administration, and it must reflect on the ground. It is our responsibility to ensure that every policy and initiative translates into meaningful benefits for the people,” he said.*

*The Deputy Commissioner directed officers to emphasize key initiatives such as the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) and YUVA during the special camps to maximize outreach and impact.*

He further instructed the compilation and submission of detailed reports covering Public grievances redressed in Special Camps, CPGRAMS, and State portals, New services added for online service delivery, Service Delivery applications disposed of during the campaign, Collation and dissemination of Good Governance practices, Success stories of public grievance resolution and success stories on the resolution of public grievances.

Officials were also asked to upload relevant data and photographs on the designated portal, showcasing the campaign’s achievements and success stories.

The meeting was attended by ADC Kalakote Tanveer Ahmed, ADC Nowshera Babu Ram Tandon, ADC Sunderbani Rajeev Magotra, ACR Rajouri Mohd Jahangir Khan, SDM Thanamandi Abid Hussain, and other district and sectoral officers.

RAJOURI DEC 18:-A delegation of Beopar Mandal Rajouri led by its president Rajesh Gupta,(Bittu Shah) met with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, to highlight several pressing issues affecting the local business community and residents.

During the meeting, Rajesh Gupta expressed serious concerns about the following: Unscheduled Power Cuts: Frequent power outages are disrupting daily life and adversely impacting water supply in the city.Parking Challenges: The acute lack of parking spaces in the city has created chaos, particularly in busy market areas. Shopkeepers Licenses: Notices issued by the Municipal Council to shopkeepers regarding license registration have created confusion, with many questioning the clarity and process of the regulations.

Responding to these concerns, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma assured the delegation that the administration is actively addressing these issues. He informed the delegation that he had already communicated with the Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu to expedite solutions, particularly concerning the power and water supply problems.

“The administration is committed to resolving these challenges promptly, ensuring the well-being of both shopkeepers and residents,” DC Sharma said.

The Beopar Mandal expressed hope for swift action and emphasized their readiness to co-operate with the authorities to improve civic amenities in Rajouri.

RAJOURI DEC 18:-On the second death anniversary of Dr. Masud Choudhary, the founding Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, current Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, visited the Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) in Jammu to pay heartfelt tributes to the visionary academician.

The event was organized by the GDCT to honor Dr. Choudhary’s enduring legacy. During the occasion, Prof. Iqbal emphasized the significant contributions of Dr. Masud Choudhary in establishing BGSBU as a beacon of academic excellence, highlighting his role in shaping the university’s reputation and academic standards.

Prof. Iqbal also met with the Chairman of GDCT, Jb. Arshid Ali Chowdhury, to commend the trust’s efforts in preserving the cultural and educational heritage of Dr. Choudhary.
