    SRINAGAR DEC 16:-In a poignant emergency meeting held via teleconferencing, the President of Shah Re Khass Traders and Chambers (SKT&C) guided members through a heartfelt session to express their profound grief following the passing of Ab Hamid Gujree, resident of Chandapra Jamia Masjid. Ab Hamid was a beloved cousin to Javaid Ah, Gh Nabi, and Abdul Hameed Gagroo.

    During this gathering, the SKT&C members conveyed their sincere sympathies and shared in the sorrow experienced by the bereaved family. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the family during this tragic time, offering support and comfort as they navigate their loss.

    “The SKT&C strongly believes in the importance of assuaging the pain and distress felt by the family during these trying times,” stated the President. “We are here to offer our deepest condolences and unwavering support.”

    As part of their tribute, the members dedicated prayers to Almighty Allah, seeking for Ab Hamid to be granted the highest rank in paradise. “May his soul rest in peace and may he find eternal happiness in his new abode,” they expressed collectively.

    Additionally, participants voiced hopes that the grieving family would discover the strength necessary to cope with their immense loss, wishing them sabr-e-jameel—beautiful patience.

    In conclusion, the SKT&C President, alongside all attendees, reiterated their solidarity with the bereaved family, conveying heartfelt condolences for their loss. “We pray that the family finds the strength to bear the unbearable and sustains the cherished memory of their departed loved one,” they affirmed.

    SRINAGAR DEC 16:-Division of Wildlife Sciences, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-Kashmir Successfully Conducted One-Day Training Program on “Sustaining Livelihoods through Wildlife Management” under MSME at Safapora, Manasbal.

    One-day training program on “Sustaining Livelihoods through Wildlife Management” was organized by the Division of Wildlife Sciences, Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-Kashmir at Safapora, Manasbal today as on 16th of December 2024, bringing together the experts, community representatives, students and environmental enthusiasts to discuss innovative approaches to integrating wildlife management with sustainable livelihoods.

    The program was inaugurated by Prof. Khursheed Ahmad, Head Division of Wildlife Sciences, SKUAST-K who emphasized the critical role of wildlife conservation in fostering community development and ensuring ecological balance. The event aimed to highlight how responsible wildlife management can serve as a tool for sustainable economic growth, especially in rural and ecologically sensitive regions.

    The Program Coordinator Dr. Aafaq A. Parrey, Assistant Professor/ Jr. Scientist, provided an in-depth overview of the training program, underlining the importance of entrepreneurship initiatives in promoting self-sustaining livelihoods. He detailed the program’s design, emphasizing its hands-on approach to equipping participants with practical skills and the ways young minds can contribute to income generation from such start-ups that help in overall growth of society. The Key sessions during the training included, Insights into how biodiversity contributes to sustainable agriculture, tourism, and local economies, Exploring participatory models for conservation, focusing on engaging local communities, Successful examples of eco-tourism projects that have enhanced livelihoods while preserving wildlife and Strategies to address human-wildlife conflict and ensure harmonious coexistence. A series of enlightening sessions were conducted, by Prof. Khursheed Ahmad, Dr. Aamir Bhat, Dr. Maqbool Rather, Dr. Tawqir Bashir, Dr. Inam Saba and Dr.Tariq Ahmad.

    Finally, the coordinator of the training program Dr. Aafaq A. Parrey, concluded by expressing heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. N.A. Ganai, Director of Planning and Monitoring Prof. H. R. Naik, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Prof. S. A. Gangoo and Head of the Division Prof. Khursheed Ahmad for their invaluable support and guidance. He also extended his sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, New Delhi, for sponsoring the program.

    RAJOURI DEC 16:-In a major breakthrough, police in Rajouri district arrested two individuals and seized 18 grams of heroin-like substance during routine checks.

    According to officials, a police team from Police Station Rajouri, while conducting routine checking and frisking at Naka Point Salani, noticed two individuals moving suspiciously. Upon intercepting and conducting a personal search, the police recovered the contraband from their possession.

    The accused have been identified as Vaneet Sayal, son of Om Parkash, resident of Androla, presently residing at Ward No. 04, Salani and Sourav Kumar, son of Rajinder Kumar, resident of Muradpur.

    A case under FIR No. 544/2024 has been registered at Police Station Rajouri under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including Sections 8, 21, 22, and 29. Both individuals have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

    The police emphasized their commitment to tackling the drug menace and urged citizens to cooperate by reporting suspicious activities.

    RAJOURI DEC 16:-In a major breakthrough, a police team from Police Station Rajouri seized a significant quantity of banned drugs during a routine patrol near Children Park  Rajouri.

    According to an official statement, the police team noticed two individuals moving suspiciously in the area. Upon spotting the police, the suspects attempted to flee. However, the police acted promptly and, after considerable effort, managed to apprehend one of the individuals carrying a luggage bag.

    The arrested suspect has been identified as Mohd Yousuf, son of Mohd Sadiq, a resident of Ward No. 04, near Children Park, Rajouri. The second individual, who evaded arrest, has since been identified, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.

    During the search of the luggage bag, police recovered:689 strips of Tapentadol tablets (6,890 tablets),36 strips of Pregabalin tablets (540 tablets),6 strips of Tramadol tablets (60 tablets).

    The seized substances fall under the purview of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Following the recovery, a case under FIR No. 543/2024 has been registered at Police Station Rajouri under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act.

    Police officials stated that the investigation is underway to ascertain the origin of the drugs and identify further links to this illegal trade.

    RAJOURI DEC 16:- Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today visited Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri to interact with patients and review the hospital’s functioning.
    The visit came in the wake of a concerning situation in Badhaal village, where seven individuals recently lost their lives due to an unidentified illness. *Several other affected individuals were admitted to GMC Rajouri, and all are showing encouraging signs of recovery.*

    *During his interaction with the patients from Badhaal, DC Abhishek Sharma assured them of all possible assistance from the district administration. He expressed his commitment to ensuring the best possible medical care for those admitted and extended support to the affected families.*

    Deputy Commissioner also interacted with other patients at the hospital and conducted a comprehensive review of the functioning of GMC Rajouri. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of healthcare and urged the hospital authorities to prioritize the well-being of all patients.

    *Reassuring the public, DC Rajouri appealed to the general public and media not to create panic until the final reports of food and water samples, sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), are received. He stressed the need for cooperation and patience during this time.*

    The DC was accompanied by Principal GMC Rajouri, Dr. A.S. Bhatia, and senior doctors of the hospital during the visit. The team briefed the DC on the ongoing treatment of patients and the steps being taken to manage the situation.

    RAJOURI, DEC 16: A meeting of the district-level committee for the implementation & approval of projects under the Prime Minister Jan Vikas Karyakaram (PMJVKY) was held today at Dak Bungalow, Rajouri. The meeting was chaired by Advocate Naseem Liaqat, Chairperson of the District Development Council (DDC).

    Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, along with other senior officers attended the meeting.
    The Chairperson reviewed the nature of works proposed by various departments under PMJVKY and emphasized the significance of the scheme in addressing developmental gaps in the district.

    DC Abhishek Sharma directed the stakeholder departments to finalize and submit detailed project proposals within three days, duly approved by block-level committees. He underlined the importance of adhering to PMJVKY guidelines to ensure comprehensive coverage of priority areas.*

    Issuing directives, the Committee asked the health Department to include projects for CHCs, PHCs, diagnostic labs, MRI facilities, ambulances for blood collection, while the Education Department was asked to incorporate laboratories, libraries, and other essential infrastructure for schools in their plan.
    “The ITI/Skill Development shall Include Hunar Haats and skill development centers to promote local talent and employment & proposals for establishment of women welfare hostels and boys and girls hostels” the meeting decided.

    The Power Development Department (PDD) was asked to propose installation of solar panels at major shrines and government institutions in their plan, while Public Health Engineering (PHE) shall address coverage of uncovered urban areas in the district.
    Further, the Youth and Sports Department was asked to propose the construction of stadiums and mini-stadiums.

    Highlighting the immense potential of PMJVKY, the DDC Chairperson called for a coordinated effort from all departments to include comprehensive projects that align with the scheme’s objectives, ensuring impactful developmental outcomes in Rajouri.

    The meeting was attended by ADDC Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, Principal GMC Dr. A.S. Bhatia, CEO Bishamber Dass, LDM, District AYUSH Officer, Amardeep Singh and Rafiq Mir, representatives of the Rotary Club, and other district and sectoral officers.
