    JAMMU DEC 15:-The PECOSA Jammu Chapter interaction with Er. Manish Gupta, President of PECOSA, was held at the Jammu Club, with a significant turnout of alumni despite it being a working day in Jammu. The meeting began with a warm welcome to Er. Manish Gupta by Er. M.M. Gupta, President of the Jammu Chapter, Er. Sunil Gupta, General Secretary, and Er. Vinod Luthra, along with other members. Special thanks were extended to Er. (Mrs.) Suman Khanna, Electrical Engineering (1987), for representing the female alumni from Jammu.

    Er. Manish Gupta addressed the gathering, highlighting the objectives of PECOSA and placing special emphasis on the upcoming Global Alumni Meet 2025 on 8th February 2025, with Er. Gursharan Singh Mech (1981) as the Chief Guest. All present alumni confirmed their registration and participation for the event.

    Er. Ashwani Kundal was felicitated as the newly nominated member of the PECOSA Executive Committee from the Jammu Chapter. The motion for elections for the Jammu Chapter was deliberated, and with mutual consent, Er. Manish Gupta declared Er. Anil Gupta as the Election Officer and Er. Ashwani Kundal as the Returning Officer, with election dates to be announced in two days after mutual consent from all alumni.

    Er. Manish Gupta also emphasized PECOSA’s support to PEC for the installation of busts of Er. Satish Dhawan and Er. Kalpana Chawla near the PEC Auditorium, requesting alumni to contribute generously to this cause. Fortunately, Er. Naresh Khajuria, Aeronautical Engineering (1982), a classmate of the late Er. Kalpana Chawla, assured his batch’s commitment to raising funds for a bust in her honor.

    The meeting concluded with thanks to all members for their active participation and valuable contributions, reflecting the camaraderie and pride of being PEC alumni.

    SRINAGAR DEC 15:-An Education Tour for Youth of Kupwara to South India was organised by “Humdard-e-Kupwara” 41 RR (MARATHA LI) under the aegis of 68 Mountain Brigade as part of OP SADBHAVNA. 15 selected students from Kupwara visited reputed educational institutions and sports facilities in Bengaluru from 09th to 15th Dec 2024.

    The aim was to provide them exposure to latest academic developments in the country as well as foster a sense of integration through fascinating cultural exchange.

    Among the premier educational institutions of the country, they visited the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) wherein they had valuable interaction with scholars. They also visited the 115 year old Indian Institute of Science (IISc) wherein they were briefed at the Centre of Ecological Sciences (CES), Materials Research Centre (MRC) and Supercomputer Engineering & Research Centre (SERC). At SERC, they were briefed on PARAM Pravega, a cutting-edge supercomputing facility which is valuable for research in various scientific domains.

    They also visited Amazon Development Centre at Baghmare Tech Park which was an amazing gateway into the corporate life. The visits to HAL Aerospace Museum & Heritage Centre and Visveswariya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM) made them gain knowledge on the evolution of Aerospace technology in the India. They also visited Madras Engineer Group (MEG) and Centre, and Parachute Regiment Training Centre (PRTC) of the Indian Army wherein they became privy to the rich history of sacrifice and victory of the Indian Army.

    Exploring the rich sports culture, a visit to M Chinnaswamy KSCA Stadium and National Cricket Academy (NCA) was wonderful.

    The Education Tour has been a well-balanced trip and has indeed opened windows of opportunities for them towards a better future with a positive perspective and it is hopeful that these young students will be the pioneers of education in Kashmir during upcoming times.

    RAJOURI DEC 15:- In a remarkable step towards employment generation and skill development, the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana achieved yet another milestone in the Rajouri district of Jammu & Kashmir. The Ace of Spades Division, in collaboration with the Career Trust Park NGO, successfully concluded an LED Assembly Training Program aimed at empowering local youth.

    The 15-week program provided over 500 hours of intensive training to participants from various parts of the district, equipping them with technical skills to assemble LED products and enabling them to pursue sustainable livelihood opportunities. At the culmination of the program, participants were awarded certificates and toolkits, further aiding their journey toward self-reliance.

    The initiative garnered praise and gratitude from the participants, who expressed appreciation to the Indian Army for paving the way for employment and skill-based growth. The program’s success highlights the Army’s unwavering commitment to community development and empowerment.

    This endeavor under Operation Sadbhavana not only fosters socio-economic progress but also serves as a model for sustainable skill development in remote regions. The Indian Army’s efforts to empower the local population reflect its broader mission of fostering peace, prosperity, and self-reliance across the nation.

    RAJOURI DEC 15:-In a bid to strengthen ties between the administration, the public, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the 72nd Battalion CRPF organized a free medical camp at High School Sagote in Rajouri district. This initiative aimed at delivering essential healthcare to residents of remote areas received a highly positive response from the local community.

    The camp was inaugurated by  Vineet Kumar, Second-in-Command of the 72nd Battalion, under the leadership of Commandant Jitendra Singh Yadav. Among the prominent attendees were Dr. Rajan Chhetri of 72nd Bn CRPF, Inspectors Jai Singh Gurjar and Gurbachan Singh, along with local dignitaries such as Sanjeev Kumar (Sarpanch), Jagdish Raj (Chowkidar), Raj Kumar (Namberdar), and Naib Sarpanch Naseer Hussain.

    A team of medical professionals, including Dr. Benish Jaral, Dr. Saurabh Raina, and Dr. Rajan Chhetri of the 72nd Battalion, conducted free health checkups and distributed medicines to approximately 450 people. The beneficiaries, comprising women, children, elderly, and youth from Sagote and nearby villages, welcomed the initiative with gratitude.

    Speaking to the media, Vineet Kumar underscored the CRPF’s commitment to serving the community beyond its security mandate. “The CRPF remains dedicated not only to ensuring safety and security but also to addressing the health needs of underserved areas,” he stated, reiterating the Force’s focus on building trust and encouraging social development.

    Local residents expressed their appreciation for the effort and called for similar initiatives in the future. The camp not only delivered much-needed medical services but also promoted awareness about health and hygiene in far-flung areas, solidifying the CRPF’s role as a force for both protection and progress.

    RAJOURI DEC 15:– A grand farewell ceremony was held today to honor Kewal Krishan Sharma, the J&K Circle Head of the All India Grameen Sevak Union, as he retired after completing 42 years of dedicated service in the postal department.

    The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries and union members from across the country. Speaking on the occasion, the General Secretary of the All India Grameen Sevak Union praised Sharma’s commendable contributions both to the postal department and the union, stating that his hard work and leadership will always be remembered.

    During a press conference, All India General Secretary S.S. Mahadevaina, who was the chief guest, highlighted Sharma’s significant role in strengthening the union and improving the welfare of postal employees.

    Prominent journalist Shakti Sharma, associated with DD News and a brother of Kewal Krishan , also attended the ceremony. He remarked on the dedication and commitment shown by Sharma throughout his long career, calling it an inspiration for others in public service.

    The farewell function was attended by over 20 union representatives from across the country, along with a large gathering of supporters, colleagues, and well-wishers. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and admiration as the attendees bid a warm farewell to Kewal Krishan Sharma.

    RAJOURI, DEC 15:-In the wake of seven tragic deaths due to an unidentified health illness in two families from Badhaal village, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo and Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana today visited Sub-Division Kotranka to review the situation and assess the measures being undertaken.

    The Ministers chaired a detailed review meeting regarding the matter which was attended by senior officers including Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah.

    Sakeena Itoo emphasized the urgency of strengthening health systems and enforcing social distancing, expediting results from forensic laboratories, directing the Food & Supplies Department to collect and test additional samples and Animal Husbandry Department to collect and test milk samples. In addition, she directed to ensure a team of doctors remains stationed in Kotranka besides establishing an MRI facility at Kotranka for improved diagnostic capabilities.

    Javed Rana stressed the importance of conducting water quality testing in adjacent areas by the water quality monitoring team. In addition, he announced two mobile medical units (MMU’s) for Rajouri and Poonch districts, with each costing around Rs 1 crore from Tribal Affairs department. These MMUs would be equipped with basic medical equipment and staffed by healthcare professionals. These have been designed to provide a range of healthcare services, including preventive care, diagnostics and treatment of common illnesses.

    Further, he also directed the Forest officials to prepare and submit a DPR for water conservation through construction of check dams to address long-term water management issues.

    Furthermore, a central team comprising experts from NCDC, PGIMER Chandigarh, and ICMR is enroute Rajouri to assist in the investigation and provide technical support for tackling the unknown illness.

    Both the Ministers reiterated the Government’s unwavering commitment towards ensuring all necessary facilities and support for the affected families and communities.

    MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary, appreciated the efforts of the district administration.

    Secretary Health briefed the meeting on critical interventions, including deployment of rapid response teams and ensuring availability of logistics, drugs and ambulances and setting up isolation wards at GMC Rajouri, Jammu, and SMGS Hospital.

    Earlier, DC Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, provided an extensive presentation outlining the timeline of events, spot maps, objectives, and case definitions. He highlighted efforts in passive and active surveillance, data collection, laboratory investigations, autopsies, environmental inquiries and descriptive epidemiology. Till date, 3,145 individuals have been surveyed through house-to-house visits and 384 special health camps have been organized in the affected areas.

    The meeting was attended by SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar, ADDC Rajouri, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Mangotra, Principal GMC Rajouri, AS Bhatia, Medical Superintendent Shamim Ahmed, CMO Rajouri, Manohar Rana and other district officers.

    The event was graced by Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, Vice-Chancellor of BGSBU, as the Chief Guest.

    On the occasion , Prof. Jawaid Iqbal congratulated the entire BGSBU fraternity including faculty, students, staff, and alumni on the momentous occasion of the university’s 21st Foundation Day.

    Prof. Jawaid Iqbal in his address remarked, “BGSBU has emerged as a center of excellence in higher education, research, and innovation. Over the past 21 years, we have strived to provide quality education and create an inclusive environment where students can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. Today, as we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to academic excellence and societal development.”

    In his address, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal highlighted the significant achievements of the university and shared its vision for the future. He announced that 4-year Undergraduate (UG) programs based on the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be introduced in different schools of study from the next academic session.Prof. Jawaid Iqbal said, “The introduction of 4-year UG programs is a transformative step that aligns with the NEP 2020 and will provide flexibility, multidisciplinary education, and holistic development for our students. This initiative reflects our commitment to modernizing education and preparing students to meet global challenges.”

    The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of creating a student-friendly environment by improving amenities such as digital resources, modern classrooms, recreational spaces, and robust mentorship programs to ensure the overall development and well-being of students.
    On the occasion, prominent alumni were honored for their extraordinary achievements in various fields of life and for bringing pride to the institution and contributing significantly to society.

    Adding to the vibrancy of the event, students of BGSBU presented a captivating cultural program, reflecting the cultural diversity of the campus. The performances, which included traditional dances and music showcased the rich heritage and unity in diversity that the university proudly upholds.

    The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. A. A. Shah, Associate Dean Academic Affairs, who warmly welcomed the Chief guest, faculty, students, alumni, and dignitaries.

    Registrar of the University, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza (JKAS ), proposed the vote of thanks. In his address, Mr. Mirza expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, faculty, officers, staff, students, alumni, and dignitaries for making the event a grand success.

    RAJOURI DEC 15:– In light of the ongoing essential upgrades to the power grid station in Rajouri, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Mr. Iftkhar Ahmed, has issued an appeal to the public to remain patient over the next few days. He assured residents that there would be no unscheduled power cuts during this period and emphasized that the temporary disruptions are necessary to ensure an improved and more reliable power supply in the future.

    MLA explained that the scheduled upgrades are part of a long-term initiative to modernize the power infrastructure in Rajouri. These upgrades are aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency, stability, and capacity of the power supply to cater to the growing demands of the region. The MLA noted that the work being carried out is crucial to meet the future energy requirements of the area and to address the increasing needs of households, businesses, and institutions.

    “I understand the inconvenience that power disruptions can cause, especially during the winter season, but I assure you that these disruptions are temporary and are vital for improving the power grid’s overall performance,” said Mr. Ahmed. “The team is working tirelessly, and we expect the necessary upgrades to be completed in the next few days.     The big achievements of Department of Youth Services and Sports the credit goes to the District Soft Tennis Association and the talented coaches Manzoor Ahmed (Rek) Pervaiz Ahmed (Rek) Zulfqar Ahmed (Association President) Mohd Iqbal (General Secretary) and Head Coach Abdul Rehman.
