RAJOURI DEC 08:-In a bid to empower the youth of border areas, the Indian Army opened the Usman Community Learning Centre and Career Counselling Centre in Jhangar, a village near the Nowshera border, two months ago. Inaugurated by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps as part of Operation Sadbhavana, the facility is rapidly becoming a beacon of hope for young people seeking quality education.

Developed over eight months, this state-of-the-art facility was designed to bridge the educational gap faced by youth in border villages, where access to learning resources is often limited. With a modern library, reading room, and an audio-visual room equipped with high-speed internet, the centre provides not only books but also the tools for an interactive learning experience. The availability of seamless video conferencing and online educational content is particularly beneficial in today’s digital learning environment.

The Usman Community Learning Centre has quickly become a focal point in the district. Local residents have expressed their gratitude, noting that the centre has been a much-needed resource for the youth. Prior to its establishment, students had to travel to distant towns like Nowshera, Rajouri, or Jammu to pursue their studies, often facing delays in accessing books and materials. Now, the facility has solved these issues by providing both books and professional career counselling services, helping students navigate their professional futures.

This centre also honours the memory of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Mahavir Chakra, and the sacrifices of local residents during the 1947-48 war, as it is an upgrade of the Usman Memorial.

Through such initiatives, the Indian Army continues its commitment to improving the quality of life in border areas, empowering the community with educational opportunities and career guidance.
