    Rajouri admin intensifies measures to bolster development process, public welfare ; Gears up for revision of Panchayat electoral rolls

    RAJOURI, NOV 12:– In a concerted effort to streamline the developmental landscape and address inter-departmental challenges, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, chaired a comprehensive review meeting at Dak Bungalow Rajouri. The meeting was focused on public welfare schemes, infrastructure projects, and resolving land issues that have slowed the progress of key initiatives.

    In his remarks, the DC emphasized the importance of addressing land-related challenges that are obstructing the advancement of developmental schemes across the district. He urged concerned departments to expedite resolutions to ensure project timelines remain on track.

    Among key decisions, the DC directed officials to initiate the revision of panchayat electoral rolls. Special camps will be organized on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate this process, enhancing the accuracy and inclusivity of voter lists.

    The DC also reviewed the status of various schemes under the Rural Development Department (RDD), stressing the importance of timely payments, physical verification of MGNREGA works, and thorough social audits. He further emphasized the completion of PMAY houses to support the region’s housing goals.

    To ensure public access to panchayat services, the DC directed to issue a roster, detailing the schedule during which Village Level Workers (VLWs) and Gram Rozgar Sewaks (GRSs) will be available at panchayat offices.

    Reviewing infrastructural projects, the DC examined the progress of road construction under the PMGSY, BRO, and PWD departments, underscoring the need for high-quality bitumen (BT) work to enhance durability and usability. Additionally, the DC directed that CCTV cameras be installed at the Baila Bus Stand, with dedicated parking spaces for Thanamandi and Darhal-bound vehicles to optimize space utilization.

    Other infrastructural projects discussed included the ongoing construction of the hospital building in Thanamandi, the AYUSH facility in Ujjan, and the 180-bed hospital at GMC Rajouri.

    DC also reviewed the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district. The Superintending Engineer JJM reported that 34 schemes have been completed, with six more expected by month-end. DC Sharma emphasized prioritizing water supply to religious institutions under JJM.

    Additional reviews included the functioning of the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) at Kotranka, status of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), and measures to curb illegal encroachment. Preparations for Janajatiya Gaurav Divas were also evaluated, ensuring all departments are aligned for successful celebrations.

    The meeting was attended by key officials including ADDC Raj Kumar Thapa, ADC Rajiv Khajuria, ACR Mohd Jahangir Khan, SE PHE Mohammad Taj, SE PWD, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, DIO NIC Muzaffar Mir, ACP Sheraz Ahmed, ACD Vijay Kumar, district and sectoral officers.

    Ayaz Rasool Nazki, born on May 25, 1951, in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, is a multifaceted Indian author, poet, painter, and educator celebrated for his contributions to Kashmiri literature and cultural heritage. Known for his expressive works in Urdu, Persian, Arabic, and Kashmiri, Nazki has made a lasting impact on the arts and education in his region, carrying forward the literary legacy of his father, Ghulam Rasool Nazki, a revered poet and writer himself.

    Nazki’s work spans poetry, prose, novels, and biographical literature, with books published in Kashmiri as well as other languages, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to preserving cultural diversity. His recent publication, Barf Pighalne Tak, originally in Urdu and now translated to Hindi, has gained attention and praise for its emotive narrative and insightful reflections.

    As a cultural leader, Nazki has held notable positions, including serving as the regional dirtelegraphindia
    Jammu & Kashmir chapter of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). His influence extended further as he became the founding registrar of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Rajouri, as well as registrar of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, underscoring his dedication to education and community development in Jammu and Kashmir.
    Nazki’s achievements have been recognized with several prestigious awards, such as the Sadiq Memorial Award in 2004, the Shiksha Ratna Award in 2003, and the Bakhshi Memorial Award in 2017, honoring his contributions to literature and the arts. He has also been conferred the Robe of Honour by Jammu University, reflecting his role as an intellectual and cultural icon in the region.
    In addition to his professional accolades, Nazki holds the distinction of being the first individual from Indian-administered Kashmir to visit Sharada Peeth, an ancient and sacred site, marking his journey as one deeply rooted in both personal and cultural history. His life’s work continues to inspire future generations of writers, artists, and educators, reinforcing his legacy as a champion of Kashmiri heritage.
